To strengthen our crew, we are looking for a Head of Accounting & Taxes (m/f/d) for the commercial division as soon as possible, for the technical and disciplinary management of the Accounting department and, in perspective, the Contracts and Royalty Accounting division:
Your Responsibilities
- Responsibility for all accounting processes as well as monthly and annual financial statements: Further development of the area and ensuring the timely and correct preparation and commentary of monthly and annual financial statements
- Competent collaboration with financial experts: Central contact person for auditors, tax advisors, and banks
- Coordination of legal entities: Management of participations, intercompany reconciliations, loans, interest calculations, pensions, distributions within the group and to shareholders, valuations, etc.
- Tax responsibilities: Organization of timely tax declarations, compliance with legal reporting obligations, supervision of tax audits, and evaluation of tax issues
- Payment transactions: Organization and monitoring of the group's payment transactions
- Consulting on new business models: Professional support for management in the introduction of new business models
- Ad-hoc evaluations: Conducting ad-hoc evaluations and analyses to support management in decision-making processes
- Special projects: Organization, execution, and support of special projects such as company mergers, digitalization initiatives, process optimizations, internal controls, e-invoicing, etc.
- Management of accounting service providers: Technical and organizational management of partially outsourced accounting and financial services
- Employee leadership: Responsibility for leading, developing, evaluating, and promoting employees
- Contract management: Development of binding standards for intra-departmental and cross-departmental processes; advising authors and the program department; sending receipts and finalizing contract attachments in EDDY/Pondus (publishing software)
- Author contract review: Answering all questions regarding commercial author support
- Royalty and license accounting: Optimization of existing and development of new processes for royalty accounting, advances, fixed fees, booking of bank statements and document entry; management of topics such as licenses, exemptions, and registrations for income tax and Künstlersozialkasse (Artists' Social Security Fund)
Your Know-How is required
- Completed degree in economics with a focus on accounting/taxes
- Several years of experience in finance and accounting
- Very good knowledge of German tax law and HGB
- Strong analytical and conceptual skills
- Strong communication skills, team orientation, and hands-on mentality
