Job Description
Let's build a future of trust together
Thales is a global high-tech leader specializing in three sectors: Defense & Security, Aeronautics & Space, and Cyber & Digital. It develops products and solutions that contribute to a safer, more environmentally friendly, and more inclusive world. The Group invests nearly 4 billion euros per year in Research & Development, particularly in key innovation areas such as AI, cybersecurity, quantum, cloud technologies, and 6G. Thales has nearly 81,000 employees in 68 countries.
Our commitments, your benefits
- Our technological expertise
- Our focus on employee work-life balance
- An inclusive and benevolent environment
- A recognized societal and environmental commitment (Thales Solidarity, CAC 40 ESG index…)
Your daily life
Thales Research&Technology, our research center in hardware domains, and CortAIx Labs, our research center in AI and digital, are tasked with proposing breakthrough innovations, maintaining and increasing technological leadership, and ensuring competitiveness for the group.
This internship will take place within the framework of a collaboration between Thales entities dedicated to AI security, contributing to both the attack and defense of AI in terms of robustness, confidentiality, and intellectual property.
Its purpose is to study the sensitivity of federated AI learning to attacks in an underwater acoustics application.
Federated learning is a machine learning method that allows multiple data owners to collaborate to train a model without sharing their data. However, while the method avoids directly exposing training data, it still presents a risk to data confidentiality. In particular, it is possible to conduct inference attacks and reconstruction attacks.
Your missions:
- Define and implement a federated learning method on acoustic data
- Select and implement relevant attacks for this use case
- Choose performance evaluation metrics for attacks and evaluate them
- Select and evaluate countermeasures
- Write a detailed study report and present the results.
Your profile
You are pursuing a BAC+5 higher education with a focus on AI and are looking for a 6-month final year internship.
You have Python programming skills and in-depth knowledge of AI machine learning.
You have a particular interest in AI cybersecurity and ethical issues of AI.
A word from the team
Join a dynamic and innovative team, at the heart of cutting-edge projects in the field of AI cybersecurity. You will evolve in a collaborative and stimulating environment, where every contribution is valued and where you will have the opportunity to work on advanced technologies.
All our internships are conventional and subject to remuneration, the amount of which is determined according to your level of study.
