Cadence Design Systems Inc. is seeking a motivated, experienced Sr Systems Engineer to join its IT R&D Solutions team. This role focuses on providing solutions for a global compute farm, improving how Cadence products are built, tested, and run. Key responsibilities include supporting R&D users in EDA software development, managing US-based clusters, operating and enhancing the compute farm, and collaborating with IT and InfoSec teams to deploy secure, optimized solutions. The engineer will also evaluate new technologies to boost user productivity and experience.

Good To Have:

Knowledge of EDA software

Must Have:

Support R&D users in EDA software development and IP designs.
Manage US-based clusters and meet operations SLA.
Operate and enhance the global compute farm.
Partner with IT to create, deploy, and optimize farm solutions.
Work with InfoSec for secure environments.
Evaluate new technologies and service offerings.
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Engineering.
Experience with HPC job scheduling software.
Solid understanding of Linux/Unix operating systems.
Proficient in Python, shell scripting, or other scripting languages.
SQL based database knowledge.
Hands-on experience with automation systems like Chef, Puppet, Ansible.
Knowledge of IBM Spectrum LSF or Slurm.
Experience with monitoring, logging, and compute farm integration.
Great problem solving and debugging skills.
Algorithms and data structure experience.
Excellent verbal and written communication in English.
Strong desire to learn about server farm and EDA software.
Capable of interacting with technical and functional teams.

The hired employee will work closely with the Cadence product development teams to provide solutions for our global compute farm that improve the way we build, test, and run Cadence products. Our focus areas include building strong partnerships with R&D, proposing and implementing emerging technologies to improve productivity and maintaining engineering infrastructure

Position Description:

The position involves:

Support R&D users in EDA software development and IP designs using our compute resources
Manage at least one US based cluster and meet operations SLA
Operate and enhance our global compute farm
Partner with other IT members to create, deploy, and optimize our farm solutions
Work closely with the InfoSec team to build and maintain environments that comply with high secure standards
Evaluate new technologies and service offerings that have the potential to improve the experience for the users

The candidate must have:

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science (or) Engineering or equivalent
Experience: Experience working with HPC job scheduling software supporting large scale batch workloads of a technical nature
Solid understanding of Linux/Unix operating systems
Proficient in Python, shell scripting, or other scripting languages. Experience with C/C++ is a plus
SQL based database knowledge
Hands on experience with building and/or maintaining automation systems such as Chef, Puppet and Ansible.
Knowledge of IBM Spectrum LSF or Slurm
Experience with monitoring, logging, and developing solutions that integrate with a compute farm
Great problem solving and debugging skills
Algorithms and data structure experience
Excellent verbal and written communication in English
