The Role
Moonbug is seeking a Label Operations Manager, a role based in our London office in the heart of Camden Town. At Moonbug, you will be working with some of the biggest brands in family entertainment at one of the largest children’s record labels in the world.
We are seeking a highly organised, detail-oriented, and proactive Manager to lead our Label Operations team. This role oversees the end-to-end delivery of our music releases, ensuring operational excellence, metadata accuracy, and seamless coordination between creative, marketing, and commercial teams. The ideal candidate combines a deep understanding of digital music platforms and release operations with strong leadership, process, and project management skills.
Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the Label Operations team to ensure the timely and accurate delivery of all music releases and catalogue updates.
- Oversee release programming and scheduling, aligning with marketing campaigns, DSP timelines, and business priorities.
- Own metadata and digital asset management, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and compliance across all DSPs and internal systems.
- Document and maintain workflows, release procedures, and internal best-practice guides to ensure operational clarity and scalability.
- Serve as the primary point of contact with our global distribution partner, UMG, managing all operational, delivery, and technical matters related to releases and catalogue updates.
- Drive process improvement and optimisation, leveraging performance data and operational metrics to continually improve workflows, catalogue presentation, and overall release strategy.
- Lead onboarding for new label partners, ensuring smooth integration into internal systems and operational processes.
- Collaborate with product, technology, and cross-functional teams to improve internal release systems, metadata tools, and operational efficiency.
- Oversee Content ID and UGC claims management to protect rights and ensure proper attribution across digital platforms.
- Support label growth through strategic release planning, content optimisation, and experimentation with emerging DSP tools and formats.
Essential Experience and Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in music label operations or digital distribution, including leadership or senior coordination responsibilities.
- Strong knowledge of digital music supply chains, metadata standards (DDEX, ISRC, UPC), DSP backends, and internal catalogue databases.
- Experience managing multiple projects, collaborating cross-functionally, and delivering under tight deadlines.
- Demonstrated ability to mentor and lead teams, improve workflows, and document operational best practices.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel/Sheets, G Suite, and other data management or BI tools; experience with dashboards and analytics preferred.
- Analytical mindset with experience interpreting performance data and operational metrics to optimise catalogue and release strategy.
- Familiarity with rights management, content ID, UGC claims, and licensing/compliance issues.
- Experience working with international releases, global distribution partners, and cross-functional teams to support label growth and operational efficiency.
- Passion for the music industry, digital innovation, and emerging technologies in streaming.
