The Lead Electronics Components Commodity Manager will serve as the global point of contact for managing the lifecycle and obsolescence of electronic components. This role involves collaborating with engineering teams to shape and implement strategies, ensuring continued manufacturability, cost-effectiveness, and long-term sustainability. Key responsibilities include leading global lifecycle management, partnering with teams to identify at-risk components, driving supplier engagement, monitoring industry trends, and supporting new product development.
Must Have:
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university or college in Engineering, Electronics, Supply Chain or Related Field.
  • Minimum of 4 years of experience in Commodity Management, Global Supply Chain or Engineering.
  • Previous experience with electronic components preferably in engineering or product design.
  • Ability to lead team level projects with high sensitivity towards maintaining timeline.
  • Strong negotiations and supplier interaction skills.
  • Strong data analytics and presentation skills.
  • Leading global lifecycle and obsolescence management for electronic components across Wabtec’s product lines.
  • Partnering with engineering, product management, and manufacturing teams to identify at-risk components and develop proactive mitigation plans.
  • Driving supplier engagement and negotiations to ensure continuity of supply and alignment with technology roadmaps.
  • Monitoring industry trends, regulatory changes, and technology shifts to inform sourcing decisions and risk assessments.
  • Developing and maintaining tools, dashboards, and processes to track component health, lifecycle status, and obsolescence risks.
  • Supporting new product development by advising on component selection with long-term availability and cost in mind.
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure sourcing strategies support business growth, operational efficiency, and customer satisfaction.

Wabtec’s Global Sourcing team plays a critical role in managing our global supply base and negotiating strategic agreements that align with the company’s long-term strategic vision. In this role, you will collaborate with internal stakeholders and external partners to develop and execute sourcing strategies that effectively support business objectives and meet evolving customer demands.

The Lead Electronics Components Commodity Manager will serve as the global point of contact for managing the lifecycle and obsolescence of electronic components. This role will collaborate closely with engineering teams across regions to proactively shape and implement strategies that align Wabtec’s product portfolio with evolving technologies. The manager will ensure continued manufacturability, cost-effectiveness, and long-term sustainability of components used in production.

You may also be asked to perform other duties outside of your function or trade, for which adequate training will be provided if necessary.
