Job Description

Wabtec's Global Sourcing team is seeking a Lead Electronics Commodity Manager to build and execute commodity strategies, manage the global supply base, and negotiate strategic agreements. This role involves establishing relationships, mitigating risk, driving down costs, and evaluating supplier capabilities, reliability, and quality within the Electronics Enterprise team. The manager will also handle supplier relationship management, budget forecasting, RFQ processes, and project sourcing to meet operational needs.
Must Have:
  • Bachelor’s degree or 7+ years in Sourcing/Procurement, Program Management, or Supply Chain.
  • 4-6 years' experience in sourcing, with preference in Electronics commodity.
  • Ability to travel up to 25% of the time.
  • Establish and execute commodity strategies, including make or buy decisions.
  • Develop supplier market intelligence and manage regional supplier panels.
  • Define and deploy supplier risk assessments and drive performance reviews.
  • Manage regional supplier relationships and new supplier selection.
  • Build forecasts and budgets for the Electronics commodity.
  • Manage RFQ processes, offer evaluation, negotiation, and contract agreements.
  • Drive sourcing competitiveness and re-sourcing in serial life.
  • Intervene in major supplier issues and improve material availability/quality.

Who will you be working with?

Wabtec’s Global Sourcing team plays a critical role in managing our global supply base and negotiating strategic agreements that align with the company’s long-term strategic vision. In this role, you will collaborate with internal stakeholders and external partners to develop and execute sourcing strategies that effectively support business objectives and meet evolving customer demands.

How will you make a difference?

As a member of our Electronics Enterprise team in our Global Sourcing Organization, you are responsible for building the strategy for your commodity to meet the operational needs of Wabtec. You will need to think creatively about how to establish relationships, mitigate risk and drive down costs for the business while monitoring and evaluating our suppliers’ capabilities, reliability, and quality.

What do we want to know about you?

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university or college OR 7+ years of experience in Sourcing/Procurement, Program Management, or Supply Chain in lieu of education
  • Minimum of 4 - 6years' experience in sourcing (with a preference in Electronics commodity)
  • Willingness and ability to travel up to 25% of the time.

What will your typical day look like?

  • Commodity & Supplier Management:
  • Establish strategy for the commodity, including the “make or buy” decisions.
  • Create short and long-term commodity strategies and influence cross functional team members
  • Develop technical and regional supplier market intelligence.
  • Build, qualify, develop, and manage the regional supplier panel including rationalization.
  • Define and deploy supplier risk assessments including sole, single, and dual sourcing plans.
  • Drive supplier performance reviews.
  • Supplier Relationship Management:
  • Manage relationships with regional suppliers and be the key point of contact.
  • Drive and monitor selection processes of new suppliers
  • Budget/Forecast:
  • Build forecast and budget for the Electronics commodity.
  • Tariffs spend, expense & investment spend and cash improvement.
  • Request for Quotes (Off Cycle & Serial Life):
  • Manages RFQ, offer evaluation, negotiation and contract agreements, off cycle and serial life contacts.
  • Optimizes PO payment terms implement supplier payment process automation.
  • Project Sourcing:
  • Provides supplier vendor list to project buyers.
  • Responsible for contracting suppliers that are new to the site.
  • Contributes to final negotiations, ensuring leverage of scale affects other ongoing projects.
  • Validates supplier selection from project buyers and participates in the Project Sourcing Committee.
  • Work across all business units and all the Regions to identify and drive significant deflation projects on SCRI, BCC and Enterprise Commodity Management.
  • Operational:
  • Drives sourcing competitiveness for existing and standard parts.
  • Responsible for re-sourcing in serial life.
  • Responsible for contract amendments and re-negotiations.
  • Intervenes in major supplier issues once escalated.
  • Improve material availability and quality by conducting supplier leadership reviews
