Lead Wireless Systems Engineer

NXP

Job Summary

NXP's Wireless Connectivity DSP team is seeking a Lead Wireless Systems Engineer to optimize next-generation WLAN and Narrowband transceivers. This role involves designing and executing experiments for post-tapeout silicon performance, validating new physical layer standards, analyzing data to identify performance gaps, and proposing design enhancements using wireless communications theory. The engineer will also build system-level models and collaborate with design teams on hardware implementations and verification.

Must Have

  • Design and execute experiments to evaluate post-tapeout silicon performance in both cabled and over-the-air (OTA) environments, focusing on PHY metrics
  • Initial validation of new physical layer standards/features and enhancements
  • Analyze bring-up data, identify root causes of performance gaps, and propose design enhancements by applying wireless communications theory concepts
  • Build system-level models and conduct simulations using C/C++, Python, and MATLAB to characterize/improve PHY behavior and performance
  • Collaborate with design teams to translate algorithmic concepts into efficient hardware implementations, develop design-level workarounds, and support verification and validation activities
  • M.S./M.Tech in Electrical or Computer Engineering with a focus on wireless communications or signal processing
  • 10+ years of industry experience in wireless systems, signal processing, or related domains
  • Strong analytical and debugging skills, with effective communication abilities
  • Hands-on experience with RF test equipment (e.g., VSA/VSG) and lab setup
  • Familiarity with wireless standards such as IEEE 802.11, Bluetooth, IEEE 802.15.4, LTE, and mmWave
  • Proficiency in Linux and scripting languages
