Job Summary
NXP's Wireless Connectivity DSP team is seeking a Lead Wireless Systems Engineer to optimize next-generation WLAN and Narrowband transceivers. This role involves designing and executing experiments for post-tapeout silicon performance, validating new physical layer standards, analyzing data to identify performance gaps, and proposing design enhancements using wireless communications theory. The engineer will also build system-level models and collaborate with design teams on hardware implementations and verification.
Must Have
- Design and execute experiments to evaluate post-tapeout silicon performance in both cabled and over-the-air (OTA) environments, focusing on PHY metrics
- Initial validation of new physical layer standards/features and enhancements
- Analyze bring-up data, identify root causes of performance gaps, and propose design enhancements by applying wireless communications theory concepts
- Build system-level models and conduct simulations using C/C++, Python, and MATLAB to characterize/improve PHY behavior and performance
- Collaborate with design teams to translate algorithmic concepts into efficient hardware implementations, develop design-level workarounds, and support verification and validation activities
- M.S./M.Tech in Electrical or Computer Engineering with a focus on wireless communications or signal processing
- 10+ years of industry experience in wireless systems, signal processing, or related domains
- Strong analytical and debugging skills, with effective communication abilities
- Hands-on experience with RF test equipment (e.g., VSA/VSG) and lab setup
- Familiarity with wireless standards such as IEEE 802.11, Bluetooth, IEEE 802.15.4, LTE, and mmWave
- Proficiency in Linux and scripting languages

Job Description
NXP’s Wireless Connectivity DSP team plays a pivotal role in shaping the system-level performance and optimization of next-generation WLAN and Narrowband (Bluetooth and IEEE 802.15.4) transceivers. This team drives cross-layer tuning, PHY algorithm development, digital verification, and silicon bring-up for NXP’s connectivity solutions.
