Job Duties: Lead the designing of forecasting and analytical models relying on mathematical, statistical and machine-learning methods leveraging historical data, market trends, and other internal and external factors to predict future internal business metrics and/or measure impact on eBay business. Ensure that these models provide a quantitative basis for executive leadership strategic decision-making on product roadmaps and resources allocation. Manage data science analytics including the acquisition, modeling, analysis and presentation of data on a wide range of factors that impact key business metrics relevant to eBay. Work with business partners across organizations to scope analysis to answer key business questions – challenge their thinking and become a trusted business partner. Manage the measurement, interpretation and monitoring of various business initiatives and data experiments and share the findings to a non-technical audience. Demonstrate strong analytical and statistical skills towards taking sophisticated and unstructured business problems, wide variety of quantitative and qualitative data, and providing structured, hypothesis-driven and data-supported practical solutions. Develop data science analytics vision and roadmap for the team, and foster innovation through continuous evolution of analytical frameworks and data solutions (e.g. self-serve data visualization). Partial telecommuting permitted from within a commutable distance.
Minimum Requirements: Master’s degree, or foreign equivalent, in Finance, Economics, Business Administration, or a closely related field plus one year of experience in the job offered, as a Business Performance Manager, or a related occupation. Employer will accept a Bachelor’s degree, or foreign equivalent, in Finance, Economics, Business Administration, or a closely related field plus five years of experience in the job offered, as a Business Performance Manager, or a related occupation.
1) Data Literacy – Strong analytical skills, ability to think objectively and interpret meaningful themes from quantitative and qualitative data
2) E-commerce experience – Experience working in the e-commerce space
3) Data Science Analytics – Manage and perform proactive and reactive data analyses on business drivers using SQL, Python or R and other tools to inform executive management, business units and partners on growth opportunities and detailed business performance drivers.
4) Statistical modeling – Experience in managing the design and development of statistical and machine-learning models applied to the measurement and/or forecast of business metrics.
5) Data management –Leveraging Hadoop technology and experience in working with large data sets.
6) Team management – Experience and capability to manage, mentor, and lead direct and indirect reports to complete tasks related to the function.
7) Executive communication and interaction – Experience working closely with executive leadership in a regular manner to support strategic business decision making, both within a defined formal framework as well as ad-hoc.
