Job Summary
As a Manufacturing Engineer at Fictiv, you will support and drive continuous improvement across critical manufacturing functions. You will work at the intersection of design, manufacturing, and cost, ensuring high-quality, manufacturable solutions for customers. Responsibilities include reviewing and analyzing the manufacturability and cost of parts across various fabrication processes like CNC machining, sheet metal, assembly, welding, and urethane casting. You will leverage your mechanical engineering background to recommend design improvements to meet performance, cost, and lead-time requirements, contributing to Fictiv's mission to create the world’s premier platform for hardware manufacturing.
Must Have
- Analyze CAD models, drawings, bills of materials, and related data for scope, manufacturability, and lead times.
- Generate accurate quotes for builders using engineering analysis and Fictiv’s software recommendations.
- Develop cost calculators based on fabrication expertise and understanding of cost drivers.
- Provide DFx (Design for Manufacturability, Assembly, Cost) feedback to builders.
- Partner with the quoting software team to improve automated manufacturing quotes accuracy.
- Create high-quality 2D drawings in accordance with ANSI/ASME Y14.5 GD&T standards.
- Design packaging solutions that meet customer and manufacturing requirements.

- Experience with 3D printing or injection molding.

Manufacturing Engineer
Location: Mexico
Reports to: General Manager, Mexico

As a Manufacturing Engineer, you will support and drive continuous improvement across our critical manufacturing functions. At Fictiv, we serve two primary customers: our builders, who design and order parts through our platform, and our manufacturing partners, who fabricate and assemble those parts. In this role, you will work at the intersection of design, manufacturing, and cost, ensuring high-quality, manufacturable solutions for our customers.

What You’ll Do
You will review and analyze the manufacturability and cost of parts submitted by our builders across a variety of fabrication processes, including CNC machining, sheet metal, assembly, welding, urethane casting, and other manufacturing methods. Leveraging your mechanical engineering background and hands-on manufacturing experience, you will recommend design improvements to meet performance, cost, and lead-time requirements.
Areas of Responsibility
- Release Package Review – Analyze CAD models, drawings, bills of materials, and related data to determine scope of work, manufacturability, manufacturing requirements, and minimum lead times
- Quoting – Combine engineering analysis with Fictiv’s software recommendations to generate accurate quotes for builders
- Cost Calculator Development – Use fabrication expertise and understanding of cost drivers to develop cost calculators that support bringing new quoting capabilities in-house
- DFx Feedback – Provide DFx (Design for Manufacturability, Assembly, Cost, etc.) feedback to builders to improve manufacturability, reduce cost, and simplify assembly
- Automation Feedback – Partner with the quoting software team to improve the accuracy of automated manufacturing quotes
- Drawing Generation – Create high-quality 2D drawings in accordance with ANSI/ASME Y14.5 GD&T standards
- Packaging Design – Design packaging solutions that meet customer and manufacturing requirements
Physical Demands
- Working at a computer for extended periods throughout the day
- Ability to lift items weighing more than 35 pounds
- Travel up to 10% as required

Desired Traits, Qualifications & Experience
- 2–5 years of experience in a similar manufacturing engineering role
- Hands-on experience with CNC machining and/or sheet metal fabrication (required)
- Experience with 3D printing or injection molding is a plus
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and GD&T at a medium level or higher
- Strong attention to detail with a natural inclination for documentation
- Fluency in business English and Spanish (written and verbal)
- Excellent communication skills with internal teams and external customers
- Self-starter who manages time efficiently and works independently
- Enjoys sharing knowledge and teaching others about manufacturing processes
- Comfortable working directly with customers and manufacturing partners
