Job Description

The Manufacturing Maintenance Technician II (Nights, D Shift) at BioFire Diagnostics is responsible for performing moderately complex repairs, routine preventative maintenance, and troubleshooting on manual to semi-automated manufacturing and packaging equipment. This role involves providing emergency support to ensure production line operations, dismantling and installing equipment according to specifications, and performing basic automation tasks. The technician must comply with company quality systems and be able to pass EPA testing for refrigeration certification.
Must have:
  • Perform moderately complex repairs on manufacturing and packaging equipment.
  • Perform routine preventative and scheduled maintenance on production equipment.
  • Troubleshoot and repair equipment issues to maintain operational status.
  • Provide emergency support to keep production lines operational.
  • Dismantle defective and outdated equipment.
  • Build and install new/repaired parts according to blueprints and SOPs.
  • Perform simple automation tasks related to hardware.
  • Comply with BioFire Diagnostics’ Quality System.
  • Pass required EPA testing for refrigeration certification.
  • Support routine problems or standard repairs for automated equipment.
  • Perform off-line mechanical rework activities.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in a directly related field/role.
  • Previous troubleshooting and hands-on repair experience.
  • Ability to problem solve and troubleshoot technical issues/equipment.
  • Ability to perform hands-on repairs using a variety of hand tools.
  • Ability to interpret and follow blueprints, WIDs, etc.
Good to have:
  • Previous experience in a fast-paced cGMP environment.
  • Experience with basic electrical systems.
  • Experience with mechanical systems.
  • Experience with pneumatics.
  • Experience with automated manufacturing equipment.
  • Experience with technical and/or regulatory documentation.
  • Associates Degree in a scientific/technical discipline.

Description

Position Duties:

Shift Schedule: Thursday thru Saturday and every other Wednesday from 5:50pm to 6:20am

1. Perform all work in compliance with company policy and within the guidelines of BioFire Diagnostics’ Quality System.

2. Performs other duties as assigned.

3. Perform moderately complex repairs involving manual to semi-automated manufacturing and/or packaging equipment. Perform basic routine preventative and scheduled maintenance on manual to semi-automated production equipment, which may include the replacement of failed/broken components (i.e. bearing, belts, motors, etc.), cleaning and lubricating parts, etc.

4. Performs troubleshooting activities to identify issues with equipment and use judgment to repair or correct those issues.

5. Provide emergency support to repair production equipment in order to keep production lines operational at all times.

6. Dismantle defective and/or outdated equipment.

7. Build and install new/repaired parts or equipment according to blueprints, specifications, WIDs, and SOPs.

8. Performs some simple automation tasks as they relate to hardware.

10. Must be able to take and pass required EPA testing for refrigeration certification.

11. Supports routine problems or standard repairs for automated equipment.

12. Perform off-line mechanical rework activities.

13. Other duties as assigned.

Training and Education:

High School diploma or equivalent; Associates Degree in a scientific/technical discipline preferred.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in directly related field/role. Must have previous troubleshooting and hands on repair experience. Previous experience in a fast-paced cGMP environment is strongly preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

  • Demonstrated ability to problem solve and troubleshoot technical issues/equipment.
  • Ability to perform hands on repairs using a variety of hand tools.
  • Must be able to interpret and follow blueprints, WIDs, etc.
  • Must possess well-developed interpersonal skills and a willingness to work collaboratively and take direction from other team members.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills to interface with all levels of the manufacturing organization and to carry out required documentation activities.
  • Demonstrated sense of urgency when carrying out critical tasks
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Propensity for paying close attention to details.
  • Experience with the following is preferred:
  • Basic electrical systems
  • Mechanical systems
  • Pneumatics
  • Automated manufacturing equipment
  • Technical and/or regulatory documentation

Working Conditions:

Ability to remain in stationary position, often standing, for prolonged periods.

Ability to ascend/descend stairs, ladders, ramps, and the like.

Ability to wear PPE correctly most of the day.

Ability to operate heavy machinery.

Ability to adjust or move objects up to 50 pounds in all directions.
