Job Summary
The Material Handler 2 position is responsible for material handling tasks to support production operations and other internal customers. This role involves storing, picking, replenishing, and kitting parts, as well as performing MRP material transactions, inventory counting, and maintaining warehouse safety and order. The handler will operate material handling equipment and identify issues disrupting material movement.
Must Have
- Handle, verify, move, and transact materials accurately.
- Process materials, verifying part numbers, quantity, lot/serial.
- Follow FIFO for material storage, picking, and replenishment.
- Pick, organize, and deliver materials for work orders.
- Use operations software for data transactions (receipts, transfers, shipments).
- Maintain warehouse safety and order (5S principles).
- Operate material handling equipment (forklifts, pallet jacks) safely.
- Identify and communicate material supply or movement issues.
- Comply with material management policies and training.
- Process MT requests and replenish MRO supplies.
- Support special material requests (sweep inventories, purges).
- High school diploma.
- Over 1 year of warehouse, material handling, or inventory control experience.
- Certified in material handling equipment operation.
- Experience in inventory control (cycle counting, physical inventories).
- Proficiency in MS Office and ERP systems (SAP).
Job Description
Main function of the position:
The Material Handler 2 position is responsible for material handling tasks to support production operations and other internal customers.
The Material Handler 2 will perform one or more of the following tasks: parts storage, parts picking, parts replenishment, and parts kit preparation.
The functions of the Material Handler 2 include: MRP material transactions (including timeliness and accuracy in data entry), inventory counting and verification, and supporting daily manufacturing needs throughout the warehouse.
Functions and responsibilities:
- Handle, verify, move, and transact materials quickly, efficiently, and accurately.
- Process materials and verify the correctness of part numbers, quantity, and lot/serial number (including labeling and certifications).
- Follow the "first-in, first-out" (FIFO) principle when storing, picking, and replenishing material.
- Pick, organize, and deliver materials for work orders and cover shortages.
- Follow specified routes in the manufacturing plant to replenish material.
- Use operations software to record data transactions (receipts, transfers, shipments).
- Maintain safety and order in the warehouse according to 5S principles.
- Operate material handling equipment (forklifts and pallet jacks) according to safety policy.
- Identify and communicate problems that disrupt operational supplies or material movement and that may become a problem for the entire operation in Mexicali.
- Comply with material management policies and procedures.
- Comply with employee training record requirements.
- Attend to and perform transactions for MT requests received electronically or on paper.
- Replenishment of operational supplies (MRO) in coordination with the purchasing group.
- Support special material requests, such as sweep inventories or purges.
Skills, Experience, Education, and Training:
- High school diploma
- +1 year of experience in warehouse, material handling, and/or inventory control
- Previous experience and/or certification in the operation of material handling equipment
- Experience in inventory control (cycle counting, physical inventories)
- Ability to demonstrate accuracy and thoroughness when completing tasks
- Computer experience, including MS Office products and ERP systems (SAP)
- Ability to frequently lift heavy materials and/or equipment daily
- Requires a lot of walking and repetitive physical movements (bending, stooping, lifting)
- Verbal and written communication skills
