KMTV, The E.W. Scripps owned CBS station in Omaha, Nebraska is seeking a Part-Time Temporary Meteorologist. This role involves tracking storm systems, analyzing weather patterns, and delivering accurate forecasts to keep the community safe and informed. Responsibilities include preparing and delivering daily weathercasts across multiple platforms (TV, Radio, Internet), urgent weather updates, and assisting in evaluating new weather data systems.
Good To Have:
  • Bachelor's degree in Meteorology preferred
  • Generally 3+ years experience in related field preferred
Must Have:
  • Prepare and deliver daily weathercasts utilizing all available weather data and graphics computers
  • Prepare and deliver urgent weather updates interrupting regular programming as necessary
  • Prepare and deliver weathercast materials across multiple platforms including TV, Radio, and Internet
  • Assist management in evaluations of potential new weather data gathering and presentation computers
  • Work cooperatively with photographers assigned to stories
  • Gather and verify factual information through interviews, observation, and research
  • Computer literacy including weather and newsroom computer systems
  • Knowledge of broadcast quality camera equipment
  • Knowledge of editing systems
  • Strong broadcast and AP style writing skills
  • Proficiency in posting content to various websites
  • Self-motivation and ability to work in a fast-paced deadline-driven environment
  • Valid driver's license, good driving record, and ability to provide proof of insurance with the company required insurance limits

  • Perform other duties as needed and assigned
