Scopely is looking for a Narrative Designer to join our Action Division on a game in development in the United States on a remote work basis.

What You Will Do

If you have a passion for writing scenes that bring gameplay to life and figuring out the perfect turn of phrase, this role is for you! You’ll bring in your expertise as a designer and writer to balance gameplay needs with narrative flavor to build the best possible experience for players.

  • Establish, maintain and define rulesets for grammar, naming conventions and characterization
  • Build a document library of all facets of the game’s narrative, including outlines, scripts, and presentations
  • Proactively address narrative needs and keep up to date with brand content in order to quickly and accurately write copy that reflects recent developments
  • Work autonomously to deliver high quality content on a consistent basis for review by brand and design stakeholders
  • Work closely with Design and content implementation for campaign and storyline creation
  • Deeply understand players' needs and motivations to inform design decisions and narrative content
  • Create content that meets design, experience and product goals
  • Implement created content into datasheets and learn how to maintain and update content over time
  • Effectively communicate proactively with all stakeholders to assure content is implemented to expectation
  • Monitor, maintain and iterate created content for quality and excellence from pre production to live operation

What We’re Looking For

  • 3+ years experience working as a Narrative Designer or Game Writer
  • Demonstrative experience working with dialogue, scripts and talking heads style narrative
  • Outstanding proofreading and copy-editing skills
  • Expert proficiency in maintaining narrative continuity, principals and characterization across all game content
  • Expert understanding of CCRPGs and their audience’s specific motivations and needs
  • Ability to work well within an international and multicultural, dynamic, cross-discipline, and iterative team environment
  • Self-motivated, proactive and collaborative, with excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Positive and collaborative, with an ability to receive and provide objective, useful feedback
  • Awareness of current trends in mobile games
  • Deep proficiency with spreadsheets, content management systems and implementation tools
  • Experience with IP and the requirements and review processes necessary to maintain authenticity and brand standards
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, both in-person and remotely
  • Strong familiarity with sports entertainment
For candidates in CA, CO, NJ, NY and WA, the annual salary range is $ 107,500- $138,600 , plus equity, bonus and benefits including healthcare benefits, retirement benefits, pet insurance, paid holidays, paid Scopely free days, and unlimited paid time-off. Base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience .
