Job Summary
This Associate Director role focuses on new business sales within the Financial Institutions sector for S&P Global's Global Insight solutions in Tokyo, Japan. The successful candidate will act as a Hunter Sales Specialist, driving significant growth by selling new solutions to existing clients and acquiring new logo customers, particularly mega banks and asset management firms. The role involves leading complex negotiations and building deep client relationships to support major transformations within financial institutions.
Must Have
- Build and execute a comprehensive growth plan to exceed sales objectives and quota targets.
- Lead complex commercial and contractual negotiations for new business opportunities.
- Stay informed of product and market trends, and respond to client and market needs.
- Partner closely with account management teams to maximize overall sales performance.
- Continuously build and maintain a strong pipeline to support business growth.
- Minimum of 8 years B2B consultative & complex solution selling experience.
- Highly adept at building new contact bases, networking, and partnering with customers.
- Substantial knowledge of processes, workflow, structures, and decision-making within Mega Banks & FIs.
- Experience selling broad range of solutions to address client challenges in FI space.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Proficiency (both written and spoken) in Japanese (native) and business English.
- Experience working collaboratively within a multinational matrix organization.
- Proven exceptional communication, selling, analytical, negotiation, problem-solving, and collaboration skills.
- Knowledge of utilizing CRM software to track sales opportunities and customer activity.

What you’ll work on:
You will serve as a Hunter Sales (Sales Specialist), responsible for driving significant growth of our Global Insight solutions into the Financials sector—primarily mega banks and asset management firms—along with a defined portfolio of other financial institutions in Japan
This will include both selling new solutions to existing clients and finding new logo customers with complex, multi-stakeholder engagements that can support major transformation within these FI’s
Responsibilities:
- Build and execute a comprehensive growth plan for this critical sector to exceed sales objectives and quota targets.
- Lead complex commercial and contractual negotiations for new business opportunities.
- Stay informed of product and market trends, and respond to client and market needs with relevant solutions to drive revenue.
- Partner closely with the account management teams to maximize overall sales performance and role-model best practices.
- Continuously build and maintain a strong pipeline to support business growth within the assigned territories.
What we look for:
- An outstanding individual who can rapidly develop an existing or new network within the Mega banks and Asset managements and build deep understandings of the challenges & opportunities of our customers to align GI offerings to support their business.
- Minimum of 8 years B2B consultative & complex solution selling experience as a senior new business sales executive.
- Highly adept at building new contact bases, networking with existing organizations and partnering with customers for mutual success.
- Substantial knowledge of the processes, workflow, structures and decision making aspects within the Mega Banks & wider FI’s.
- Experience sales selling broad range of solutions to address client challenges and pain points within FI space.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with proficiency (both written and spoken) in Japanese (native) and business English.
- Experience working within different groups and also collaboratively within a multinational matrix organization
- Proven exceptional communication, selling, analytical, negotiation, problem solving and collaboration skills
- Knowledge of utilizing CRM software to track sales opportunities and customer activity
