Job Description

This role is for an Operations and Competitiveness Manager within Thales DMS France SAS, specifically for the Marine Mechanical Pole (PMM) and Brest Electronics Pole (PEB) in Brest. The site focuses on digital services, maritime patrol and surveillance systems, electronic warfare, sonar systems, and airborne anti-submarine warfare. The manager will pilot operations activities, manage workload plans, track performance indicators, develop MAKE/BUY strategy, lead the Engineering Performance Plan, and ensure consistency of engineering processes.
Must Have:
  • Pilot the Operations activities of the 2 poles: construction of the MYB, management of workload plans, data consolidation and reporting.
  • Monitor performance indicators (KPIs) and participate in project reviews.
  • Develop and consolidate the MAKE/BUY strategy, represent the CODIRs during supplier meetings and strategic exchanges, contribute to establishing the supplier audit plan.
  • Build and lead the Engineering Performance Plan (EPP) to optimize project efficiency, pilot the deployment of competitiveness actions.
  • Pilot the transformation plan and ensure the consistency of engineering processes (development, integration, qualification).
  • Provide transversal support, prepare annual presentations and seminars, ensure interim for the HoEO CCM.
  • Master engineering processes.
  • Have proven experience in complex project management.
  • Possess excellent knowledge of workload and staffing management mechanisms, and financial management.
  • Have project management skills and technical engineering skills to best understand the different stakeholders.
  • Be rigorous, have good synthesis and organizational skills, and be comfortable with cooperative work.
  • Have excellent interpersonal skills, be proactive and convincing, and demonstrate pedagogical ability.

Your daily life

The Brest site houses our digital services activities as well as Thales' expertise in development, integration, and maintenance for maritime patrol and surveillance systems, electronic warfare, sonar systems, and airborne anti-submarine warfare, as well as our digital services activities.

Within Thales DMS France SAS, the Material Development Competence Center (CCM) is responsible for designing hardware components and sub-systems that meet the expectations of the UWS Business Line programs and offers, particularly in terms of competitiveness, performance, reliability, manufacturability, and maintainability.

Within CCM, the Marine Mechanical Pole (PMM) carries out products and activities in the marine mechanical field, and the Brest Electronics Pole (PEB) carries out products and activities in the fields of power electronics and acquisition systems, and HF/aero antenna electronics.

Operations and Competitiveness Manager – PMM & PEB (Brest)

To meet the challenges related to the development and realization of their products and activities, PMM and PEB are recruiting an Operations and Competitiveness Manager.

Reporting to the CCM Operations Manager (Head of Engineering Operations / Make or Buy & Footprint Manager), you will be a member of the CODIRs.

Main missions:

  • Pilot the Operations activities of the 2 poles: construction of the MYB, management of workload plans, data consolidation, and reporting.
  • Monitor performance indicators (KPIs) and participate in project reviews.
  • Develop and consolidate the MAKE/BUY strategy, represent the CODIRs during supplier meetings and strategic exchanges, contribute to establishing the supplier audit plan (with the Purchasing and Supplier Quality departments).
  • Build and lead the Engineering Performance Plan (EPP) to optimize project efficiency, pilot the deployment of competitiveness actions.
  • Pilot the transformation plan and ensure the consistency of engineering processes (development, integration, qualification) implemented.
  • Provide transversal support, prepare annual presentations and seminars, ensure interim for the HoEO CCM.

Profile:

With higher education, you master engineering processes and have proven experience in complex project management.

You have excellent knowledge of workload and staffing management mechanisms, and financial management.

You have project management skills and technical engineering skills to best understand the different stakeholders.

You are rigorous, have good synthesis and organizational skills, and are comfortable with cooperative work.

Endowed with excellent interpersonal skills, you are proactive and convincing and know how to demonstrate pedagogy.
