We are seeking a Part-Time Database Specialist for a remote role in Europe to lead the migration of our critical data estate from on-premise systems to AWS. The specialist will guide the transition of Oracle and SQL Server databases into modern cloud architectures, planning and executing schema conversions, data migrations, and post-migration optimizations. This role involves designing database architectures using RDS and Aurora, ensuring high performance and capacity for core banking applications, and supporting application teams with data access patterns.
Must Have
- 5+ years in database administration/engineering with 3+ years in database migration projects
- Expertise in Oracle and SQL Server
- Experience with AWS DMS and other migration tools
- Understanding of Windows and Linux database hosts on VMware
- Strong skills in database performance tuning and optimization
Good to Have
- Experience with PostgreSQL/MySQL

Job Description
We are looking for a Database Specialist to lead the migration of our critical data estate from on-premise systems to AWS. You will be the expert guiding the transition of Oracle and SQL Server databases into modern cloud architectures. In this role, you will plan and execute schema conversions, data migrations, and post-migration optimizations. You will design database architectures using RDS and Aurora, ensuring high performance and capacity for our core banking applications.
Location π Remote position open to candidates in the Europe.
Contract Type βοΈ This position is open for candidates interested in Business-to-Business (B2B) contract position in countries in Europe. Please note this is a contract role for approximately 3 years, part-time.

What Will You Do? π§
- Plan and execute database migrations from on-prem (Oracle, SQL Server, etc.) into AWS.
- Perform schema conversion, data migration, and post-migration optimization.
- Design database architectures on AWS (RDS, Aurora, EC2-hosted databases).
- Conduct performance tuning and capacity planning.
- Support application teams with data access patterns and optimization.
