Job Summary
WPIX is seeking a Photographer/Editor to operate television or video cameras for news reports. Responsibilities include shooting, setting up, composing, and executing video shots, maintaining equipment, and editing clips for broadcast and eMedia. The role also involves operating live microwave and satellite trucks, collaborating with reporters to create visually appealing stories, and working efficiently under tight daily deadlines while adhering to journalistic standards.
Must Have
- Shoot video for news reports
- Confer with personnel on assignments
- Set up, compose, and execute video shots
- Maintain video equipment
- Edit video clips for television broadcasts and eMedia

- Partner with reporters for creative, visually appealing stories
- Work efficiently under extremely tight deadlines daily
- Possess good judgment skills
- Understand ethical and legal issues in daily newsgathering
- High school diploma
- Fluency in English
- Valid driver’s license and a clean driving record
- Accountable for assigned equipment (news vehicles, cameras, lights, laptop)
- Flexible schedule to work nights, weekends, and holidays
- 3 to 5 years of experience in broadcast television
- Excellent communication skills, both oral and written
- Minimum two years’ experience operating video recording equipment
- Proficiency with computers and office equipment
- Ability to meet deadlines, prioritize assignments, and handle multiple tasks
- Flexibility to work any shift

- Maintains video equipment
- Edits video clips for television broadcasts and eMedia content
- Operates live microwave and satellite trucks in remote situations
- Partners with reporters to develop creative, visually appealing & impactful stories
- Works efficiently and effectively under extremely tight deadlines on a daily basis
- Good judgment skills are a must.
- Comprehensive understanding of ethical and legal issues concerning daily newsgathering. Must routinely use appropriate journalistic standards and guidelines.
- Performs other duties as assigned
Requirements & Skills:
- High school diploma
- Fluency in English
- Must possess a valid driver’s license and a clean driving record.
- Candidates will be accountable for assigned equipment, including news vehicles, cameras, lights, laptop, writing trouble reports when necessary.
- Applicants must be flexible schedule with ability to work nights, weekends and holidays. Must have at least 3 to 5 years of experience in broadcast television.

- Proficiency with computers, telephones, copiers, scanners, fax machines and other office equipment
- Proficiency with video recording equipment

This is a IBEW union position with starting hourly rate at $41.62
