Job Description

The International Command Centre Software presales team is seeking a Presales Solutions Architect to define, design, and demonstrate software solutions for public safety agencies outside North America. This role involves leading technical sales activities, consulting with customers to develop supportable solutions, and analyzing current technology infrastructure. The architect will work with bid teams, product groups, and third-party vendors to ensure customer objectives are met and to design and implement solutions for trials and post-sale deployments.
Must have:
  • Lead all technical sales activities for assigned opportunities.
  • Provide specific solutions/technology/product consulting and technical sales input.
  • Perform in-depth and high-level technical presentations for customers and partners.
  • Work with product groups and vendors to define new services and technical solutions.
  • Design and implement solutions for user trials/pilots and assist with post-sale implementations.
  • Document designs and prepare proposal material including system descriptions and bill-of-materials.
  • Support procurement in evaluating quotations from equipment vendors.
  • Have 5+ years experience in detailed design and deployment of complex IT solutions.
  • Experience with Emergency telephony and Integrated Communications Control Systems (ICCS).
  • Experience with Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD).
  • Experience with CCTV, mobile video streaming, storage and management.
  • Experience with Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and location services.
  • Good understanding of control room business processes for public safety agencies in Germany and Austria.
  • Good working knowledge of latest IT and IP networking technologies.
  • Good working knowledge of software integration technologies (web services, ESBs).
  • Specific experience in transition planning and execution.
  • Fluent in spoken and written German and English.
Good to have:
  • Spanish language skills.

Department Overview

The International Command Centre Software presales team is responsible for defining, designing and demonstrating software solutions based upon our public safety portfolio in all territories excluding North America. The team also demonstrates Motorola Solutions’ wider portfolio, including body worn and in car video solutions, fixed video and land mobile radios.

Job Description

You will be responsible for the technical sale of compelling applications to public safety agencies using consulting-led selling techniques. The applicant will serve in an architect capacity with customers and their requirements to develop solutions that are supportable from a technical perspective. The applicant will be responsible for understanding all aspects of complex solutions and top level requirements, and will coordinate with other functional areas, subcontractors, partners, and customers in finalising requirements and addressing technical issues.

In order to propose and implement the most appropriate solutions, the applicant will review and analyse current technology infrastructure and its ability to support strategic objectives of solutions for customers. This includes working with multiple bodies within customer organisations to assist in the improvement of business processes, testing systems to ensure functionality is satisfactory and recommending new systems or product upgrades.

Responsibilities include:

  • Lead all technical sales activities related to assigned sales opportunities
  • Work closely with the entire bid team to ensure overall customer objectives and strategy is maintained
  • Provide specific solutions/technology/product consulting, technical and sales input
  • Perform in-depth and high-level technical presentations for customers and partners
  • Yield maximum product and services revenue from each opportunity while driving customer satisfaction.
  • Work with Motorola Solutions product groups, Third Party Vendors and Motorola Solutions managed service organisations to define new services, deployed in on-premise and multi-tenanted off-premise configurations, including definition of technical solutions to support services offered by the Motorola Solutions services organisation to customers
  • Where required, design and implement solutions for user trials / pilots and assist with the implementation of post-sale solutions
  • Articulating solutions to customers and demonstrating deep knowledge of the customer’s problem space and solutions
  • Documenting designs and preparing proposal material including system descriptions and bill-of-materials
  • Supporting the procurement organisation to obtain and evaluate quotations from equipment vendors
  • Ability to initiate and build solid working relationships and to be self-motivated, and operate with minimal supervision.

Basic Requirements

Whilst this is a primarily pre-sale role, it is expected that suitable candidates will have several years of experience in the detailed design and deployment of complex IT solutions in order to have credibility with potential customers.

The following skills are considered essential:

  • 5 years working as a supplier of solutions to public safety agencies (preferably both pre-sale and post-sale) in at least 3 of the following domains:
  • Emergency telephony and Integrated Communications Control Systems (ICCS)
  • Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD)
  • CCTV, mobile video streaming, storage and management
  • Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and location services
  • Good understanding of control room business processes used by public safety agencies (police, fire and health) in Germany and Austria
  • Good working knowledge of the latest IT and IP networking technologies
  • Good working knowledge of the software integration technologies, e.g. web services and ESBs
  • Specific experience of transition planning and execution to bring solutions into service
  • Fluent in spoken and written German and English, with the ability to clearly document complex technical solutions to customers. Spanish language is a plus.
  • Excellent listening, negotiation and presentation skills
