This Pressure Vessels Design Engineer role at Zeeco involves developing detailed designs for pressure vessels, combustion chambers, and heat recovery units using tools like COMPRESS and PV Elite. The engineer will perform structural and thermal analysis with ANSYS and NozzlePro, ensuring designs comply with ASME Section VIII and API 560. Key responsibilities include managing design projects, collaborating with cross-functional teams, providing technical leadership, and troubleshooting design challenges. The position requires a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering and 5-10 years of relevant experience.
Must have:
  • Develop detailed designs for pressure vessels, combustion chambers, and heat recovery units.
  • Perform structural and thermal analysis using ANSYS and NozzlePro.
  • Optimize designs for manufacturability, performance, and cost-effectiveness.
  • Ensure designs comply with ASME Section VIII, API 560, and other specifications.
  • Prepare and review design calculations and documentation for approvals.
  • Manage multiple design projects simultaneously, meeting deadlines.
  • Collaborate with various engineering teams to align designs.
  • Provide drawings/sketches to procurement and review vendor drawings.
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and support staff.
  • Review and approve engineering drawings, specifications, and reports.
  • Address design challenges during fabrication, testing, and commissioning.
  • Prepare technical documentation, including design reports, drawings, and manuals.
  • Minimum of 5 and up to 10 years of experience in pressure vessels design.
  • Experience with ASME Sec VIII designed equipment.
  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering.

Responsibilities

  • Design and Analysis:
  • Develop detailed designs for pressure vessels, combustion chambers, and heat recovery units using COMPRESS and PV Elite.
  • Perform structural and thermal analysis using ANSYS and NozzlePro to ensure integrity under operating conditions.
  • Optimize designs for manufacturability, performance, and cost-effectiveness.
  • Code Compliance:
  • Ensure all designs comply with relevant industry codes and standards, including ASME Section VIII, API 560, and other applicable specifications.
  • Prepare and review design calculations and documentation for third-party approvals and inspections.
  • Preparation of Technical delivery conditions (TDC’s) as per Code requirements & project specifications.
  • Verification of software outputs with respect to Code formulas using manual calculations / references from ASME PTB’s.
  • Project Execution:
  • Manage multiple design projects simultaneously, meeting deadlines and quality standards.
  • Collaborate with design engineers, process engineers, project engineers, and manufacturing engineers to align designs with project requirements.
  • Provide drawings / sketches to procurement team for sourcing the materials as required, review the drawings from vendors prior to fabrication.
  • Technical Leadership: Provide guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and support staff.
  • Review and approve engineering drawings, specifications, and reports.
  • Identify and implement best practices in design processes and tools.
  • Troubleshooting and Problem Solving:
  • Address design challenges during fabrication, testing, and commissioning phases.
  • Propose innovative solutions for complex engineering problems.
  • Documentation and Reporting:
  • Prepare technical documentation, including design reports, drawings, and manuals.
  • Maintain accurate records of engineering activities and revisions.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 and up to 10 years of experience in the pressure vessels design and ASME Sec VIII designed equipment, preferably in the pressure vessel and thermal equipment industry
  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering
