Job Description

This role is for a Confirmed Project Planning Engineer to join Assystem's Project Management team, specifically working on the international ITER project in Cadarache. The project aims to demonstrate the feasibility of thermonuclear fusion as a large-scale, CO2-free energy source. The engineer will be responsible for creating, updating, and managing project planning, identifying critical paths, and supporting project managers in a complex, multicultural environment.

Must Have:
  • Create macro-planning and detailed planning based on existing standards and WBS.
  • Create the hypothesis note associated with planning creation.
  • Construct the resourced federating planning with input data.
  • Identify critical and sub-critical paths of the project.
  • Prepare & participate in project steering meetings and visual management meetings.
  • Collect input data for planning updates and alert the Project Manager in case of difficulties.
  • Update the hypothesis note associated with planning evolutions.
  • Support the Project Manager in preparing planning progress presentations.
  • Update planning with various project stakeholders.
  • Highlight any evolutions of the critical and sub-critical paths based on project progress updates.

Your future team:

Under the responsibility of Florent, Activity Manager within Assystem Project Management, you will join the teams in charge of planning and project control office on the ITER project.

ITER is a unique experimental project that aims to demonstrate the technological and scientific feasibility of thermonuclear fusion.

It is a joint project between the European Union, China, India, Japan, South Korea, the Russian Federation, and the United States. ITER brings together 35 countries in the construction of the largest Tokamak ever built in the world! This fusion device aims to demonstrate that "nuclear fusion" (reproducing the unlimited energy source that powers the sun and stars) can be used as a large-scale, CO2-free energy source to produce electricity.

Your missions:

We are recruiting a Confirmed Project Planning Engineer at the ITER Cadarache site in St Paul-Lez-Durance (13), near Aix-en-Provence.

Supporting project managers, your daily missions will be:

  • Creation of macro-planning and detailed planning based on the existing standard in line with the project WBS,
  • Creation of the hypothesis note associated with the planning creation,
  • Construction of the resourced federating planning with input data,
  • Identification of the critical and sub-critical path of the project,
  • Preparation & participation in project steering meetings and visual management meetings organized by the Project Manager,
  • Collection of input data for planning updates and alerting the Project Manager in case of difficulties in retrieving them,
  • Updating the hypothesis note associated with planning evolutions,
  • Support to the Project Manager for the preparation of presentations dedicated to the planning progress of their project,
  • Updating the planning with the various project stakeholders,
  • Highlighting any evolutions of the critical and sub-critical path based on the update of the project's progress status.

Qualifications

Your strengths and prerequisites for success:

  • Bac+5 education (Engineer, or University, Master in Project Management), you have at least 7 years of professional experience after your Bac+5.
  • You have a minimum of 5 years of experience in Project Planning in the industrial sector during which you used a planning software such as Primavera P6, or Microsoft Project or Planisware.
  • You master English to collaborate daily with the multicultural and international teams of the ITER project.
  • You are recognized for your interpersonal skills as well as your collaborative spirit, allowing you to work effectively with various stakeholders in a complex and large-scale environment.
  • You are rigorous and demonstrate analytical and synthesis skills.
  • You are passionate about project management, decision support, and continuous improvement.
