Submarine, a leading Dutch film producer, is seeking a proactive Research and Production Intern for a minimum 5-month period. The intern will support various international animation, documentary, and live-action film and series projects. Currently, several new projects are in development and production. Therefore, we are looking for a research and production intern who can strengthen the team for a period of at least 5 months.

Period

Internship start: February 2, 2026

Internship end: June 26, 2026

Duration: minimum 5 months

Job requirements/profile

We are looking for an intern who is broadly interested, has an affinity with documentaries, is a strong communicator, is driven and likes to get things done. You must be able to think creatively and solution-oriented, be stress-resistant, flexible and proactive, and dare to take your own initiatives. Experience with journalism and/or media studies is a plus. A good command of the English and Dutch language is also important.

Documentary – Research and Production Internship

As a research and production intern, you will, among other things, take on the role of production assistant. It is an excellent opportunity to gain a lot of experience in various projects, from grant applications and festival registrations to the preparation of shooting days and post-production. In addition, you will be involved in all kinds of activities that come with the development phase of film production. For example, you will assist with research for documentaries in development, contribute ideas for potential new plans, and help with grant applications. In addition to these activities, you will also support ongoing productions, by, among other things, helping with the preparation of shooting days.

The activities are varied and include the following tasks:

Support with grant applications
Assisting with preparations for shooting days
Support with the development of new documentary plans
Productional support
Research activities
Preparing recordings and organizing and processing recordings for editing
Registrations for film festivals

It is a hands-on internship where you learn everything about making a documentary, with room for your own initiatives and goals. You will truly become part of our production team! With the help of your internship supervisor, you will set your own learning goals for your personal and professional development. This way you will get the most out of your experience at Submarine.
