Job Summary
Scripps News is seeking a talented videographer for their Washington, D.C., bureau. This role involves working with award-winning journalists to capture high-profile interviews at the White House, on Capitol Hill, and across the nation. The ideal candidate will have an eye for storytelling and a knack for crafting unique, compelling visuals to bring reporting to life across multiple platforms, including television, digital, and social media.
Must Have
- Work closely with reporters and producers to shoot in the field and in the newsroom.
- Capture and edit striking visual and audio content for television, digital, and social media.
- Conduct field interviews with newsmakers and public figures.
- Manage and maintain audio/visual equipment, advising on optimal gear for each assignment.
- Proficiency in multi-camera set ups, including sit-down interviews and field anchoring.
- Knowledge of best videography and lighting practices.
- Experience with cinema cameras.
- Knowledge of editing software.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
- Valid driver's license, good driving record, and proof of insurance.

- Bachelors Degree
- Technical experience setting up/conducting field stand ups or interviews
- Part 107 (drone) license
- Familiarity with DSLR cameras

Job Description
A talented videographer is sought for a legacy newsroom founded in 1878 by E.W. Scripps with the penny press mission to “give light and the people will find their own way.” You’ll work alongside award‑winning journalists to capture high‑profile interviews at the White House, on Capitol Hill, and across the nation. We’re looking for someone with an eye for storytelling and a knack for crafting unique, compelling visuals that bring our reporting to life across multiple platforms.
WHAT YOU'LL DO:
- Work closely with reporters and producers to shoot in the field and in the newsroom.
- Capture and edit striking visual and audio content for television, digital, and social media.
- Conduct field interviews with newsmakers and public figures.
- Manage and maintain audio/visual equipment, advising on optimal gear for each assignment.
- Perform other duties as assigned by newsroom management.
WHAT YOU'LL NEED:
- Bachelors Degree preferred; or equivalent of 3+ years of experience experience in related field
- Technical experience setting up/conducting field stand ups or interviews preferred
- Part 107 (drone) license is preferred
WHAT YOU'LL BRING:
- Proficiency in multi-camera set ups, including sit-down interviews and field anchoring
- Knowledge and demonstration of creativity, editorial judgment, journalistic ethics and libel laws
- An ability to manage gear, including on-the-fly troubleshooting and developing best practices for travel with gear
- Able to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven, team-oriented environment.
- Ability to meet or exceed established deadlines to ensure high-speed, high-quality content delivery
- Knowledge of best videography and lighting practices, with a proven record of creating high production value
- Experience with cinema cameras required; familiarity with DSLR cameras a plus
- Knowledge of editing software
- Frequent travel may be required (domestic and international)
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
- Valid driver's license, good driving record, and ability to provide proof of insurance with the company required insurance limits.
