Job Description

Lila Sciences is seeking a thoughtful and detail-oriented Research Assistant to join our physical sciences team, focusing on materials characterization. This lab-based role supports experimental workflows and data processing for materials discovery, engaging in innovative R&D across disciplines. The associate will execute and monitor characterization workflows, assist in data analysis, collaborate with cross-functional teams, maintain lab records, and ensure instrument maintenance.
Good To Have:

Must Have:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Materials Science, Chemistry, Physics, or related field
  • Prior experience in working in a laboratory environment
  • Hands-on work with common characterization tools such as profilometer, XRD, SEM, and XRF
  • Attention to detail in experimental execution and data interpretation
  • Effective, respectful written and verbal communication skills
  • Comfort working in interdisciplinary, fast-paced environments

This is a hands-on, lab-based opportunity for pre-doctoral candidates to support experimental workflows and data processing for materials discovery. What You'll Be Building

  • Execute and monitor materials characterization workflows across diverse chemistries and functionalities
  • Assist in analysis of materials characterization data under supervision.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including experimental and machine learning scientists, to support characterization efforts for scientific objectives.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed laboratory records and ensure compliance with safety and regulatory standards.
  • Assist in quality check and preventative maintenance of the instruments.

What You’ll Need to Succeed

  • Bachelor’s degree in Materials Science, Chemistry, Physics, or related field

Compensation

We expect the base salary for this role to fall between $72,000–$96,000 USD per year, along with bonus potential and generous early equity. The final offer will reflect your unique background, expertise, and impact.
