Job Description

As a Rigger, you will be instrumental in bringing characters, creatures, and objects to life through rigging. You'll be part of a dynamic team, collaborating with other artists and animators to create visually stunning and technically efficient animated content. Your responsibilities include developing and maintaining rigs for characters, creatures, and objects, automating and optimizing rigging processes through scripting in environments like PyCharm or VSCode, and ensuring your work adheres to project timelines and studio guidelines. You will work closely with other departments to ensure rigs are intuitive and easy to animate, participating in creative and technical discussions.
Must Have:
  • Expertise in rigging principles and Maya software.
  • Proficiency in scripting using IDEs like PyCharm or VSCode.
  • Strong problem-solving for rigging and animation.
  • Excellent communication and team collaboration skills.
  • Demonstrated experience as a rigger in Maya.

In this role, you will play a pivotal part in bringing characters, creatures, and objects to life through the magic of rigging. You will be part of a dynamic and creative team, collaborating closely with other artists, animators, and directors to create visually stunning and technically efficient animated content.

Expected Tasks:

  • Use your expertise in rigging principles and software proficiency (in Maya) to develop and maintain rigs for characters, creatures, and objects.
  • To automate and optimise rigging processes, write and maintain scripts in Integrated Development Environments such as PyCharm or VSCode.
  • Adhere to project timelines and production schedules while maintaining a commitment to delivering high-quality rigs that align with the project’s artistic and technical requirements.
  • Work closely with other departments, such as modellers and animators, to ensure rigs are intuitive, efficient, and easy to animate, troubleshooting any technical issues that may arise.
  • Collaborate effectively with directors and fellow team members, actively participating in creative and technical discussions and incorporating feedback into your work.
  • Ensure all work follows studio policies and guidelines.

Essential skills:

  • Demonstrated ability as a rigger in Maya.
  • Proficiency in scripting for Maya, with experience using IDEs such as PyCharm or VSCode.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot technical issues related to rigging and animation.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team-oriented and fast-paced environment.
  • A passion for creating robust and intuitive rigs that contribute to memorable and visually impressive animations.
