Job Description

The Sales Manager will recruit, onboard, train, and manage Sales Development Representatives (SDRs) or Account Executives (AEs). They will coach the team to achieve Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), remove sales obstacles, and possibly design and optimize the sales pitch. This role involves maintaining team morale, setting and achieving goals, coaching, improving the sales process, managing campaigns, streamlining workflow, providing feedback, and becoming a product expert. The Sales Manager also needs to be proficient at solution-based selling, have a collaborative attitude, and be able to create processes for scale and SOPs.
Must have:
  • Solution-based selling aligned with prospect goals.
  • Experience with CRM and sales tools, preferably Salesforce.
  • Minimum of 3 years of cold-calling/outbound sales experience.
  • 2-3 years of people management experience handling a sales team.
  • Excellent communication skills.

About the Sales Team

The Sales team directly impacts the growth of the company by acquiring high quality + high capacity new professionals who will provide an amazing experience for our customers. Our sales approach drives product comprehension, pro retention, and generates a much higher ROI for the pro vs. pros who self-serve signup. We are a growing sales organization, currently looking for highly motivated leaders who want to be a part of scaling our Sales org.

About the role

The Sales Manager helps recruit, onboard, train and manage SDRs or AEs. They will help them sell, coach them to hit KPIs and remove sales obstacles; they may also design and optimize the sales pitch. The Sales manager should possess a strong sales acumen, understand that building trust and rapport with our pros is essential for a long term relationship.  You will play a key role in the team’s growth by surfacing learnings from sales conversations, by testing new data sources and sales processes, by improving the quality & quantity of pros on Thumbtack and by driving revenue for the company. 

What you'll do

  • Maintaining high team morale, setting & achieving goals both as a team, coaching and improving the sales process, managing ever-changing campaigns and team productivity, and helping to streamline the SDR or AE workflow and operations processes
  • Train and mentor current team members and new hires on sales strategies, scripting, and processes in a work from home environment 
  • Provide feedback to Sales Leadership, Sales Operations and Enablement on ways to improve workflow and efficiency for SDRs or AEs, as well as identify training needs. 
  • Become an expert in the Thumbtack product and clearly articulate why every business professional needs the product as part of their business plan 
  • Performance & documentation
  • Other duties as assigned or required.

In order to be successful, you must bring

  • Expert at solution-based selling through aligning prospect goals, needs and problems to product solutions
  • Have a collaborative attitude to share techniques and success with the team
  • Experience with CRM and sales tools, preferably Salesforce
  • Must have a minimum of 3 years cold-calling/outbound sales and 2-3 years of people management experience handling a sales team
  • Be able to multitask, be detail oriented, stay organized, and be available for the team during shift.
  • Expert in creating processes for scale and SOPs to be more efficient and drive results
  • Must have excellent communication skills (voice and non voice) to be able to clearly explain the benefits and features of our product well
  • Leadership.  Be able to motivate, influence mindsets, create positive team selling environments.
