Job Description

People Can Fly, a leading independent AAA game development studio with over 20 years of experience, is seeking a Senior Audio Designer for an unannounced 2025 project. The role involves multiplex integration of assets using visual scripts, implementing complex gameplay mechanics via middleware, and optimizing audio systems. The designer will troubleshoot, debug, and ensure the technical feasibility of audio features, while also developing tools and workflows to support creative sound design. This full-time, on-site/hybrid position in Montreal, Canada, requires over 5 years of experience in technical audio design within game development.
Must have:
  • Multiplex integration of assets using visual scripts
  • Implement complex gameplay mechanics through scripts and third-party middleware
  • Troubleshoot, debug, and optimize complex audio systems
  • Ensure technical feasibility of audio features
  • Develop tools, workflows, and technical solutions for audio designers
  • 5+ years in game development with technical audio design focus
  • Proven expertise in Wwise and proprietary engines
  • Solid understanding of game audio theory (spatialization, occlusion, reverb zones, dynamic music systems, adaptive audio)
  • Experience building and maintaining audio pipelines
  • Strong knowledge of visual scripting and text-based scripting
  • Strong knowledge of Perforce, JIRA

Job Description

  • Multiplex integration of assets using visual scripts.
  • Implement complex gameplay mechanics through scripts and third-party middleware.
  • Troubleshoot, debug, and optimize complex audio systems for performance and stability.
  • Ensure technical feasibility of audio features.
  • Develop tools, workflows, and technical solutions that complement the work of audio designers, enabling them to focus on creative sound design.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years in a game development environment, with a focus on technical audio design.
  • Proven expertise in Wwise and proprietary engines.
  • Solid understanding of game audio theory: spatialization, occlusion, reverb zones, dynamic music systems, and adaptive audio.
  • Experience building and maintaining audio pipelines from asset creation to in-game implementation.
  • Strong knowledge of visual scripting and text-based scripting.
  • Strong communication skills for cross-team collaboration.
  • Able to translate creative direction into technical solutions.
  • Proactive in identifying potential workflow or integration issues before they impact production.
  • Adaptable and resourceful under shifting production schedules and priorities.
  • Strong knowledge of Perforce, JIRA,.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills in English.
  • Expert and in-depth knowledge of Wwise.
  • Familiarity with Maya a bonus.
