Job Summary
The Managed Investment Data Team at Morningstar is seeking a Data Consultant to drive data initiatives in the UK market. This role involves collaborating with global and local teams, managing relationships with asset managers, demonstrating Morningstar's data capabilities and quality, and relaying local market insights to central teams. The consultant will be the primary contact between the centralized data team and asset managers, focusing on data acquisition, client support, and project management for database enhancements.
Must Have
- Representing and explaining Data workflows, processes and methodologies (ESG, SFDR, Morningstar sustainability rating) towards asset managers and clients
- Taking ownership of acquiring and onboarding new and complex data sets
- Partnering with product, sales & support teams on prospect discovery, RFP answers, lead generation, and resolving client data questions
- Collaborating with Data & Development Centres and global teams to align priorities based upon local business requirements
- Managing projects focused on enhancing the database, including business analysis on market trends & regulatory changes
- Monitoring competitor behavior, trends and services
- Solid understanding of the local UK investment management industry
- Excellent written and verbal communication, problem solving, organizational, and analytical skills
- Significant experience within a financial data role
- A bachelor’s degree or equivalent is required
- Experience within data methodology/quality and processes
Good to Have
- Data expert on investment data points, processes, methodologies, calculations and different fund structures
- Previous experience in project management and relationship management role

Morningstar’s Data group provides data and analytics on hundreds of thousands of investment offerings, including stocks, mutual funds, and similar vehicles, along with real-time global market data on millions of equities, indexes, futures, options, commodities, and precious metals, in addition to foreign exchange and treasury markets. The Role:
The Managed Investment Data Team requires a Data Consultant to drive Morningstar data in the UK market. The employee will collaborate with all global and local teams. The Data Consultant is responsible for the relationships with asset managers and other actors of the industry, demonstrate our capabilities and quality, and return the voice of the local market to the global and central teams. The consultant is the main point of contact between our centralized data team and the asset managers. The position will be based in our office in London.
Responsibilities:
- Representing and explaining the Data workflows, processes and methodologies (ESG, SFDR and other regulatory requirements, Morningstar sustainability rating…) towards asset managers and clients.
- Take ownership of acquiring and onboarding new and complex data sets as we keep expanding the quality of analytics delivered to clients.
- Partner with product, sales & support teams on the prospect discovery process, the answer to RFP & lead generation and serving as the subject matter expert to help resolve client data questions.
- Collaborate with members of the Data & Development Centres and global teams to align priorities based upon local business requirements.
- Manage projects focused on enhancing our database in order to meet changes in our industry and client’s needs. This includes business analysis on market trends & regulatory changes & liaising with associations or working groups in order to design data collection plans & bring back the voice of the client.
- Monitor competitor behavior, trends and services in order Morningstar are well placed to act on any opportunities that may arise.
Requirements:
- Solid understanding of the local UK investment management industry and passionate about investment data.
- Excellent written and verbal communication, problem solving, organizational, and analytical skills.
- Data expert on investment data points, processes, methodologies, calculations and different fund structures is a plus.
- Previous experience in project management and relationship management role is highly preferred.
- Significant experience within a financial data role.
- A bachelor’s degree or equivalent is required.
- Experience within data methodology/quality and processes.
