Job Summary

eBay is seeking a Senior Manager, Data Science and Analytics to lead a high-performing team. This role involves deep-dive analyses into Global and U.S. business performance, uncovering strategic insights, and translating data into actionable recommendations. The manager will also collaborate with the Agentic Analytics team to prototype AI-driven diagnostic tools and shape the automation roadmap for next-generation analytics, redefining how eBay understands and drives business performance.

  • Master’s in Data Science, Analytics, Statistics, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in data science or analytics.
  • At least 3 years in a leadership role.
  • Strong understanding of data science and analytics, predictive modeling, and sophisticated diagnostics techniques.

**About the role and team**

We are looking for a Senior Manager, Data Science and Analytics to help reinvent how eBay understands and drives business performance through the power of uncovering strategic insights and building new AI prototype applications. This is a rare opportunity to invent the future of analytics, redefining diagnostics from backward-looking reports into intelligent, self-evolving systems that guide decision-making in real time.

The ideal candidate is a strategic thinker and hands-on problem solver, fluent in the languages of consulting, data science, analytics, and storytelling. You’ll own the team responsible for deep-dive analyses into the performance of the Global and U.S. business, uncovering the “why” behind results and translating data into bold, actionable insights that move the business forward.

You will also collaborate with the Agentic Analytics team, our innovation engine, to prototype AI-driven diagnostic tools, develop new intelligence capabilities, and shape the automation roadmap that defines how analytics works in the next era of eBay.

What You Will Accomplish

  • **Partner cross-functionally across all analytics domains (e.g. Ads, Shipping, and Focus Categories) to perform deep-dive analyses that explain business dynamics and surface actionable insights.**
  • **Serve as a trusted advisor to the U.S. Country Manager, providing strategic, data-driven insights that clarify performance trends and guide operational decisions.**
  • **Collaborate with Corporate Finance on strategic insights and presentations for the Board of Directors and Investor Relations, shaping how eBay communicates business performance and future opportunities.**
  • **Co-create with the Agentic Analytics Product team to prototype ground breaking AI and diagnostic applications, influencing the automation and intelligence roadmap that powers next-generation analytics.**
  • **Drive critical initiatives as both an executor and strategic thought partner, ensuring data science and analytics play a central role in eBay’s growth and transformation agenda.**
  • **Apply sophisticated analytics and AI techniques  including simulations and experimental diagnostics to uncover emerging customer behaviors and new performance drivers.**
  • **Champion data-driven strategies that improve customer experience, and marketplace efficiency, directly impacting key business outcomes.**

What You Will Bring

  • Master’s in Data Science, Analytics, Statistics, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in data science or analytics, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.
  • Consulting experience preferred
  • Consistent track record of using data science to drive significant business impact
  • Strong understanding of data science and analytics, predictive modeling, and sophisticated diagnostics techniques.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work on complex issues where analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of variable factors.
  • Outstanding leadership skills with the ability to empower and inspire a team.
  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to articulate insights and complex concepts to a non-technical audience.
  • Experience with big data technologies and tools (e.g., Hadoop, Spark, SQL) and programming languages (e.g., Python, R, Java).

The base pay range for this position is expected in the range below:

$183,200 - $244,600

Base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including location, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including a target bonus and restricted stock units (as applicable) in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as PTO and parental leave). Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.

If hired, employees will be in an “at-will position” and the Company reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.
