Job Summary
As a Specialist Firmware Development Engineer on our Research & Development team, you will design and verify embedded software, focusing on process compliance to new quality standards for microcontroller-based products in cars. Key responsibilities include code optimization for size, performance, and maintainability, maintaining firmware code and documentation, and defining/executing test cases for various testing levels. You will also perform code reviews and support firmware validation. The ideal candidate is a proactive problem-solver, a team player with strong interpersonal skills, committed to industry standards, and eager to innovate within a motivated team.
Must Have
- Design and verification of embedded software
- Process compliance to new quality standards (ASPICE, ISO26262, ISO21434)
- Code optimization (size, performance, maintainability)
- Maintain firmware code, requirements, and documentation
- Define and execute test cases for unit, integration, and software testing
- Perform code reviews on firmware design, implementation, and testing
- Support firmware validation on application hardware
- Support the application team
- Degree in Electronic Engineering, Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent
- Previous experience in Firmware or Embedded Software Development (academic experience considered)
- Knowledge of Software Development processes
- Proficiency in embedded code languages (C, assembler)
- Proficiency in scripting languages (Perl, Python)
- Fluency in English
Good to Have
- Experience with verification methodology
- Experience with source code control systems
- Knowledge of 16- or 32-bit microcontrollers
- Knowledge of ARM Cortex-M subsystems
- Knowledge of Automotive Functional Safety
- Knowledge of AUTOSAR

Your Role
Key responsibilities in your new role
As a Specialist Firmware Development Engineer, you will focus on the design and verification of embedded software, with special focus on process compliance to new quality standards for a new platform of microcontroller-based products, which are integrated in cars across the globe.
- Perform code optimization between the code size, performance, and maintainability of the products
- Maintain firmware code, requirements, and documentation throughout the development cycle
- Define and execute test cases for unit testing, integration, and software testing
- Perform code reviews on firmware design, implementation, and testing
- Support firmware validation on application hardware and support the application team
- Contribute to the definition of the Infineon Firmware Methodology, including ASPICE, IS026262, and IS021434 compliant development process
Please note that we offer an external temporary contract of 6 months.

- A degree in Electronic Engineering, Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent field of study
- Previous experience in Firmware or Embedded Software Development - academic experience (internship, thesis) is also considered for the role
- Knowledge of Software Development processes
- Proficiency in embedded code languages, such as C and assembler, and scripting languages, such as Perl, Python
- Experience with verification methodology and source code control systems is a plus
- Knowledge of 16- or 32-bit microcontrollers, ARM Cortex-M subsystems, Automotive Functional Safety, and AUTOSAR is an advantage
- Fluency in English
