Requirements
Key Responsibilities
- Build and optimize data pipelines in PySpark / Databricks for ingestion, transformation, and curation.
- Design dimensional/star schemas using Delta Lake and Unity Catalog.
- Develop, monitor, and scale workflows via Databricks Workflows or Airflow with SLA-based alerting.
- Deliver Power BI dashboards and paginated reports with optimized DAX and semantic models.
- Execute SSRS-to-Power BI migrations, preserving business logic and performance.
- Analyze and manage compute performance and cost optimization for Databricks and Power BI Premium.
- Maintain detailed, version-controlled data documentation and lineage.
- Partner with data scientists, analysts, and business leaders to deliver reliable, validated insights.
Must-Have Skills
- 5+ years in analytics or data engineering roles.
- 3+ years hands-on with Databricks or Apache Spark in production environments.
- Advanced PySpark and SQL (windowing, optimization).
- Strong experience with Power BI (DAX, data modeling, security, refresh cycles).
- Proven track record of SSRS migration and semantic model design.
- Git, CI/CD, and data testing frameworks (e.g., Great Expectations).
- Clear communication and ability to bridge technical and non-technical teams.
Nice-to-Have Skills
- Databricks certification (Data Engineer Associate or Professional).
- Streaming pipeline experience (Structured Streaming, Kafka).
- Familiarity with dbt, Unity Catalog, and data governance models.
- Knowledge of cost governance for cloud compute and BI capacity.
- Background in health-tech, life sciences, or other regulated data domains.
