Job Summary
The Sr. Database Engineer is responsible for integrating client data elements into defined architectural standards, making them available for various departments. This role supports project teams throughout the Agile methodology phases, including initiation, planning, development, deployment, and ongoing support and maintenance. Key activities involve developing data structures, performing ETL development and testing, creating BI reports, and executing campaigns. The engineer will also maintain data integrity, suggest software and process improvements, and provide 24/7 support as a Subject Matter Expert for multiple clients and projects.
Must Have
- Develop Logic and Physical models based on defined architecture
- Integrate data into approved architectures
- Develop and test Extract Transform Load (ETL) solutions
- Develop appropriate notification/alert strategies within all ETLs
- Serve as Subject Matter Expert (SME) for multiple clients/projects
- Develop BI solutions using tools like Azure Data Factory, SSIS
- Develop, implement, and support customer user-defined stored procedures, functions, and views
- Maintain data integrity
- Supply proper data documentation (Entity-Relationship Diagrams, Data Dictionaries, ETL definitions)
- Provide 24/7 support for clients/projects as SME
- Integrate various 3rd party data objects (e.g., Acxiom, DataFlux)
- Develop and implement Householding strategies
- Excellent understanding of T-SQL
- 7+ years Microsoft SQL Server 2016 and above experience
- 7+ years IT industry experience
- Excellent skills with ETL tools like Azure Data Factory and SSIS
- Advanced problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication skills

Job Description
The Sr. Database Engineer is responsible for the integration of client data elements into the defined architectural standard for use by various departments throughout the organization. This individual will assist project teams with tasks associated with the Initiation, Planning, Development, Deployment, and Ongoing Support Maintenance phases of our Agile Methodology in accordance with the documentation that is provided defining project scope and deliverables. These activities may include the development of data structures, ETL development, BI report development, and campaign execution.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Develop Logic and Physical models based on the defined architecture
- Data Integration into approved architectures
- Extract Transform Load (ETL) development and testing
- Submission of ETL solutions for final approval to the Systems Administrator
- Development of appropriate notification/alert strategies within all ETLs
- Serve as Subject Matter Expert (SME) within the Data Services Department for multiple clients/projects
- Develop BI solutions using various tools i.e. Azure Data Factory, SSIS, to meet organizational needs
- Develop, implement and support customer user-defined stored procedures, functions, and views
- Maintain data integrity
- Suggest software, hardware, and process-level improvements to upper management
- Suggest overall process improvements for existing solutions to upper management
- Supply proper data documentation for various project phases (as necessary), i.e. Entity-Relationship Diagrams, Data Dictionaries, ETL definitions
- Advise Systems Administrator on effective backup/replication scheduling.
- Capacity/scalability planning for expanding data needs
- Provide 24/7 support for clients/projects serving as the SME (as necessary)
- Integration of various 3rd data objects, i.e. Acxiom, DataFlux
- Development and implementation of various Householding strategies as defined by PM on a per-client basis
- Participate in peer code review

Background/Experience
- Excellent understanding of T-SQL
- 7+ years Microsoft SQL Server 2016 and above
- 7+ years IT industry experience; Marketing or Advertising experience a plus

- VB Script, C#, .NET, and Azure Cloud experience a plus
- MCSA, MSCE, MCDBA Certifications a plus
