Job Summary
We’re looking for an experienced and highly motivated Sr. Website Performance & Optimization Manager to lead the governance and daily operations of the website, ensuring all content is accurate, compliant, user-friendly, and optimized for AI/SEO performance. You will own the website roadmap and prioritize initiatives that directly support lead generation and revenue goals. Partnering closely with Product Marketing, Demand Gen, Content, Design, Development, and SEO/AIO teams, this role ensures every page is aligned with brand standards and the enterprise Design System. By owning the website technology stack, leveraging analytics tools, behavior insights, A/B testing, and accessibility best practices, you will continuously optimize site performance, UX, and conversion outcomes. This is a highly cross-functional, data-driven role ideal for a web leader who excels at turning complex requirements into seamless digital experiences reporting to the Sr. Director, Web Strategy.
Must Have
- Lead governance and daily operations of the website
- Ensure content is accurate, compliant, user-friendly, and optimized for AI/SEO

- Experience leading CRO initiatives, user behavior analysis, and A/B testing
- Expertise in web analytics tools (Google Analytics, GTM, Looker, Hotjar, etc.)
- Familiarity with SEO principles and technical SEO
- Strong project management skills with experience overseeing development teams
- Ability to collaborate across teams and communicate complex web concepts to non-technical stakeholders
- Strong knowledge in web performance optimization and WordPress CMS
- Experience with AI engine optimization best practices
- Experience defining KPIs that track website impact beyond form submission
- Demonstrated knowledge of WCAG 2.1 AA standards and experience owning a formal accessibility remediation roadmap
- Proven experience enforcing or contributing to a Design System and working directly with UX/UI designers on component library implementation

Website Content Strategy & Management
- Content Governance: Own the content lifecycle and roadmap. Ensure all web content is accurate, legally compliant, and aligned with marketing goals, brand messaging, and campaign objectives.
- SEO and Performance: Maintain and update website content to comply with AI/SEO best practices. Proactively identify and execute content refreshes to improve AI and search engine performance.
- Leverage user behavior analytics and SEO performance data to inform content updates.
- Production: Populate WordPress page templates with content authored by other teams, ensuring proper formatting, structure, consistency, and readability across all pages.
- User Experience (UX): Ensure seamless navigation, usability, and accessibility across all devices.
Collaboration & Workflow Management
- Roadmap Ownership: Define and manage the website roadmap, ensuring all initiatives directly support core business and revenue marketing objectives (i.e. Lead generation, conversion).
- Cross-Functional Partnership: Collaborate with Product Marketing, Demand Gen, Content, Design and Web Development teams to align content and site features with overall marketing strategy and the websites design system.
- Design System: Enforce and contribute to the website’s Design System, partnering with design and development to ensure component-level consistency and unified user experience.
End-to-End Page Management
- Manage the complete content and page development lifecycle for new pages and page hygiene initiatives, including a content calendar and the process from intake, content authoring, design, development, and securing all required approvals (legal, brand, product, etc.).
Website Analytics & Performance Optimization
- Technology: Own the selection and maintenance of website technology stack to enhance website capabilities while ensuring integration with marketing automation and CRM systems.
- Performance Optimization: Oversee website technical performance and conversion rate optimization (CRO) initiatives, including implementing and tracking A/B testing methodologies and analyzing user behavior data (session recordings, heatmaps, funnel drop-offs) to drive data-driven site improvements.
- Accessibility compliance: Own the accessibility audit and remediation roadmap as a strategic priority, ensuring compliance with standards like WCAG 2.1 AA.
- Tracking and Accuracy: Ensure accurate website tracking by managing Google Tag Manager (GTM), Google Analytics, and marketing attribution models.
- Analytics and Reporting: Develop and manage website analytics dashboards (Google Analytics, Looker, Tableau, etc.). Monitor key metrics like web traffic, form conversions, and content performance to identify trends and areas for improvement.
- Implement and report on qualitative UX metrics such as Task Success Rate for critical user journeys and Customer Satisfaction (CSAT)/Net Promoter Score (NPS) captured via on-page feedback tools.

- Experience defining KPIs that track website impact beyond form submission, including MQL/SQL velocity and financial efficiency metrics (CPA/ROAS).
- Demonstrated knowledge of WCAG 2.1 AA standards and experience owning a formal accessibility remediation roadmap.
- Proven experience enforcing or contributing to a Design System and working directly with UX/UI designers on component library implementation.
The above salary range represents Smarsh's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible base compensation at the time of posting. Any applicable bonus programs will be discussed during the recruiting process.
The salary for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, location, specialty and training.
