Job Summary

The Staff Accountant will play a key role in supporting the organization's month-end close activities, daily accounting operations, and compliance requirements. This role is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, preparing key reconciliations, supporting tax filings, and ensuring adherence to established accounting policies and procedures. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, proactive, and eager to learn in a fast-paced environment, contributing to process improvements and cross-training within the accounting department.

Must Have

  • Participate in month-end close activities by preparing and reconciling key balance sheet accounts.
  • Record daily activity related to cash, customer payments, and accounts receivable transactions.
  • Assist with fixed asset accounting, including additions, disposals, and depreciation calculations.
  • Prepare Sales Tax and VAT filings in accordance with applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Compile and organize documentation requested by external auditors.
  • Follow established accounting procedures and contribute ideas for process improvements.
  • Maintain and organize electronic filing systems for efficient document management.
  • Perform special projects, ad hoc analyses, and other accounting-related duties as assigned.
  • Cross-train across multiple areas of the accounting department.
  • Bachelor's degree (BS) in Accounting.
  • Strong Excel proficiency, including pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, and other advanced functions.
  • Solid understanding of accounting principles, terminology, and best practices.
  • Ability to analyze and compare data from multiple sources for accuracy and completeness.
  • Demonstrated curiosity and willingness to learn, interpret accounting guidance, and apply it appropriately.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Job Description

Salary Range: $59,000 - $71,000, pay may vary based on location.

The Staff Accountant will play a key role in supporting the organization's month-end close activities, daily accounting operations, and compliance requirements. This role is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, preparing key reconciliations, supporting tax filings, and ensuring adherence to established accounting policies and procedures. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, proactive, and eager to learn in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Month-End Close & General Accounting
  • Participate in month-end close activities by preparing and reconciling key balance sheet accounts, including cash, fixed assets, and accounts receivable.
  • Record daily activity related to cash, customer payments, and accounts receivable transactions.
  • Assist with fixed asset accounting, including additions, disposals, depreciation calculations, and preparation of rollforward schedules.
  • Analyze variances between actuals and budget and prepare commentary as needed.
  • Compliance & Reporting
  • Prepare Sales Tax and VAT filings in accordance with applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Compile and organize documentation requested by external auditors during interim and year-end audit procedures.
  • Process Improvement & Administration
  • Follow established accounting procedures and contribute ideas for process improvements as systems and workflows evolve.
  • Maintain and organize electronic filing systems to ensure efficient document management and audit readiness.
  • Perform special projects, ad hoc analyses, and other accounting-related duties as assigned.
  • Cross-train across multiple areas of the accounting department to support team coverage and operational continuity.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree (BS) in Accounting.
  • Strong Excel proficiency, including pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, and other advanced functions.
  • Sage Intacct experience is a strong plus.
  • Solid understanding of accounting principles, terminology, and best practices.
  • Ability to analyze and compare data from multiple sources for accuracy and completeness.
  • Demonstrated curiosity and willingness to learn, interpret accounting guidance, and apply it appropriately.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively across all levels of the organization.
