Job Summary

Saxo is seeking a Controller with a focus on Tax Accounting to manage statutory finance operations and tax compliance across the Netherlands, Belgium, France, and Italy. This role involves ensuring financial integrity, supporting audits, and handling complex tax obligations. The Controller will collaborate with finance teams, external accounting offices, and tax authorities to support strategic initiatives and operational excellence, contributing to Saxo's financial and tax integrity and growth goals.

Must Have

  • Oversee month-end closings, reconciliations, and general ledger integrity for multiple countries.
  • Manage accounts payable/receivable, payment processing, and journal entries.
  • Coordinate with external accounting offices and auditors for statutory filings.
  • Own corporate income tax (CIT), VAT, WKR, and other local tax filings.
  • Ensure compliance with jurisdiction-specific tax laws and reporting standards.
  • Manage transfer pricing documentation and intercompany tax flows.
  • Prepare documentation and responses for internal and external audits.
  • Maintain audit trails and validation routines for finance and tax processes.
  • 7+ years of experience in finance, accounting, or tax.
  • Exposure to Dutch, Belgian, French and Italian statutory and tax requirements.
  • Relevant higher education (e.g., master’s in business economics, Auditing, or Tax).
  • Strong knowledge of statutory accounting, tax compliance, and internal controls.
  • Proven ability to manage complex tax obligations and statutory filings.
  • Fluent in English.
  • Valid work permit for the Netherlands.

Job Description

We are seeking a Controller with enhanced focus on Tax Accounting to anchor statutory finance operations and own tax compliance and planning across the Netherlands, Belgium, France, and Italy. In this dual-function role, you will ensure financial integrity, support audits, and manage complex tax obligations in-house and strengthen the internal control framework.

You will collaborate closely with finance teams, external accounting offices, and tax authorities in the Netherlands, Belgium, France, and Italy, supporting strategic initiatives and operational excellence. Your expertise will help maintain a reputation for financial and tax integrity, while supporting ambitious growth and transformation goals.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee month-end closings, reconciliations, and general ledger integrity for the Netherlands, Belgium, France, and Italy.
  • Manage accounts payable/receivable, payment processing, and journal entries across these jurisdictions.
  • Coordinate with external accounting offices and auditors for statutory filings in each country.
  • Support internal control initiatives and Finance in Control programs.

Tax Compliance & Planning

  • Own corporate income tax (CIT), VAT, WKR, and other local tax filings for the Netherlands, Belgium, and France, as well as Italy.
  • Ensure compliance with jurisdiction-specific tax laws and reporting standards, including familiarity with local tax authorities (e.g. Belastingdienst, SPF Finances, Direction Générale des Finances Publiques).
  • Manage transfer pricing documentation and intercompany tax flows between entities in these countries.
  • Liaise with tax authorities and external advisors when needed.

Audit & Regulatory Support

  • Prepare documentation and responses for internal and external audits in all relevant jurisdictions.
  • Maintain audit trails and validation routines for both finance and tax processes.

Process Improvement & Integration

  • Drive automation and standardization of finance and tax workflows across the Netherlands, Belgium, France, and Italy.
  • Collaborate with SSC India and Group Finance to ensure data alignment.
  • Contribute to digital transformation by leveraging leading finance and tax systems.

Stakeholder Engagement & Collaboration

  • Act as a key contact for tax authorities, external accounting firms, and internal teams in the Netherlands, Belgium, France and Italy.
  • Provide tax and finance insights to support decision-making and strategic initiatives.
  • Work closely with colleagues in Finance, Legal, and Operations, and mentor junior team members as the company continues to build internal expertise.

Your profile

  • 7+ years of experience in finance, accounting, or tax, ideally within an international environment and with exposure to Dutch, Belgian, French and Italian statutory and tax requirements.
  • Relevant higher education (e.g. master’s in business economics, Auditing, or Tax).
  • Strong knowledge of statutory accounting, tax compliance, and internal controls in the Netherlands, Belgium, France and Italy.
  • Proven ability to manage complex tax obligations and statutory filings across multiple jurisdictions.
  • Structured, analytical, and hands-on approach, with a focus on effective problem solving and meeting tight deadlines.
  • Excellent communicator, able to engage at all levels and build trust across diverse teams.
  • Experience with leading finance and tax systems is an advantage.
  • Fluent in English (corporate language); valid work permit for the Netherlands required.
