Our client is seeking an experienced Systems Analyst - Workday for a long-term contract opportunity. This role serves as a technical system administrator and configuration expert within the Workday HCM domain. The analyst will step directly into a critical backfill position supporting ongoing FDM retrofit and deployment transition projects, ensuring system integrity, smooth data migrations, and alignment with enterprise HRIS strategy. The ideal candidate is a hands-on Workday professional who thrives in large, complex environments and can function as a consultant and problem-solver, not just an executor.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the primary Workday HCM system administrator, performing configuration, testing, and maintenance across multiple modules.
  • Lead or support large-scale transitions, data loads, and FDM retrofit efforts, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and minimal disruption.
  • Collaborate with HR, Finance, IT, and HRIS leadership to coordinate changes and deployments across a 9-member HRIS team and wider HR organization.
  • Act as a consultative partner, proactively identifying configuration and process optimization opportunities rather than waiting for assigned tasks.
  • Deliver and maintain technology solutions to support business processes and data reporting needs.
  • Contribute to development of data standards, documentation, and configuration governance.
  • Liaise with vendors and internal IT teams to support ongoing system initiatives and performance improvement.
  • Support and train users as needed to ensure smooth adoption and understanding of system changes.
  • Mentor and coach peers to promote shared technical knowledge and team growth.

Required Qualifications and Experience:

  • Minimum of 5+ years of direct Workday HCM experience, including hands-on configuration and system administration.
  • Proven success supporting large enterprise environments, ideally within healthcare or unionized organizations.
  • Strong background in data migration, EIB loads, and deployment transitions.
  • Experience across additional Workday modules is a plus (e.g., Compensation, Security, Reporting).
  • Familiarity with Smartsheet and Jira preferred but trainable.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to work cross-functionally and translate complex technical concepts for non-technical stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical and pragmatic problem-solving mindset; able to work autonomously and consultatively.
  • Workday certification is a plus but not required.
