Job Summary
The Systems Engineer L1 Automation will be responsible for designing, implementing, and validating equipment control hardware and software for industrial automation and control systems. This role involves establishing and maintaining contract design documentation, providing technical interface to customers and suppliers, and working within a multi-disciplined project team. The engineer will also focus on improving engineering process efficiency through standard solutions and managing changes using the engineering change control system, while ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations.
Must Have
- 4-6 years experience in engineering and software development for process industry control systems.
- Hands-on experience in GE, Siemens, ABB, Allen Bradley, Beckhoff, Rockwell automation products (PLCs, I/O, HMI).
- Expertise in automation architectures, hardware engineering, I/O, instrument, and component selection.
- Strong programming knowledge in FBD, Ladder, Structured Text for industrial PLC systems.
- Experience with redundancy in PLC and SCADA systems.
- Knowledge of industrial networks, switch settings, virtual and ring networking.
- Expertise in communication protocols like Profibus, Profinet, TCP/IP, EtherCAT, Modbus (TCP), IEC61850, SNMP.
- Experience with field instruments, signal processing, measurement systems, and current transformers.
- Proficient in understanding electrical schematics, SLD, P&I, and Plant Layout diagrams.
- Ability to work in a multi-disciplined international team and multi-task.
- Excellent communication, report writing, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
- Willingness to travel within India and overseas.
Good to Have
- Experience in SCADA / HMI systems (Rockwell Factory Talk, PcVue, Intouch, Cimplicity, iFix, WinCC).
- Knowledge in Drives Engineering.
- Basic knowledge of power electronics components (thyristor, IGBT, diode, Transformers, protection relays, Isolators).
- Basic knowledge of power system components and substation equipment.
- Basic knowledge in AutoCAD, E-Plan.
- Knowledge in earthing system and design, power/heat loss calculations, lighting calculations.
- Knowledge of industrial wiring standards, cable tray/routing, electrical circuit/field theory.
- Knowledge of panel/control desk building materials, cable types/sizing.
- Understanding of Emergency-Stop circuits.
- Knowledge of IEC standards for electrical panels & automation systems.
- Proficiency in MS Office, especially Excel.
- France / German Language skills.

Essential Responsibilities
- 4 to 6 years of experience to carry out the engineering and software development for any process industry control systems etc.,
- Be part of a multi-disciplined project team, control system development and Validation for different domain projects.
- Improve the efficiency of the engineering process, through development and use of standard engineering solutions for projects.
- Manage change using the engineering change control system.
- Liaise with cross functional team, Sales, Project, Commissioning and Service teams.
- Liaise with other company, customers, suppliers, and sub-contractors to support the Project execution.
- Provide Technical advice and assistance to sales and tendering teams.
- Adapt Project specific system controls for general industry automation system and high current rectifier application.
- Comply with all company and customer health and safety regulations.
Qualifications/Requirements
- Master’s / bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Electrical / Electronics / Instrumentation engineering.
- Minimum 4 Years of hands-on experience in engineering and commissioning of automation systems.
- Autonomous hands-on experience in GE / Siemens / ABB / Allen Bradely / Beckhoff / Rockwell etc., automation products (PLCs, I/O, HMI etc.,) for multiple applications.
- Expertise in automation architectures, hardware engineering, I/O selection, instruments, component selection etc.,
- Strong Programming knowledge in FBD, Ladder, Structured Text etc., in any industrial PLC system.
- Very good experience and knowledge in redundancy in PLC and SCADA systems.
- Good knowledge in different industrial networks, managed and unmanaged switch settings, virtual networking, ring networking and hands on experience in implementing in Projects.
- Expertise in various communication protocols like Profibus, Profinet, TCP/IP, EtherCAT, Modbus (TCP), IEC61850, SNMP, etc.,
- Good experience in various field instruments and their interfaces + signal processing
- Good experience in measurement systems, current transformers etc.,
- Good experience in closed loop control systems.
- Proficient in understanding of electrical schematics, SLD and it’s symbols.
- Should be able to interpret Schematic, P&I & Plant Layout diagrams.
- Capable of working as part of a multi-disciplined international team
- Ability to multi-task on a variety of projects to strict time scales
- Excellent communication skills and report writing skills.
- Good interpersonal and organizational skills.
- Willing to travel within India and overseas for short term / Long-term working at customer sites / Regional units.
- Work may include extended hours of working during the weekends / holidays, during critical times.
