Autodesk is seeking a results-driven U.S. Federal and State Tax Manager to join their global tax team. The role involves managing the tax aspects of the tax reporting and compliance cycle to ensure tax efficiency and accuracy. Responsibilities include reviewing and preparing quarterly and annual tax provisions with an emphasis on state-by-state reporting, managing state income tax return processes, leading the resolution of state income tax audits, ensuring timely completion of state tax extensions and filings, and providing advice on technical tax/accounting issues. The manager will also monitor legislative changes, prepare tax account reconciliations, identify process improvements, assist with internal control requirements, build relationships with finance personnel and external advisors, and mentor tax team members.
Must have:
  • 10+ years of U.S. federal and state tax compliance experience
  • BS/BA in accounting or finance
  • Certified Public Accountant
  • Experience in Public Big 4 Accounting Firm and Tech Industry
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship building skills
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
Good to have:
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
  • Experience with S4Hana/SAP
  • Experience with Alteryx
  • Experience with OneSource Provision
  • Experience with OneSource Income Tax
  • Experience with Longview/Khalix software
  • Willingness to pivot and learn

Position Overview

Autodesk has an exciting opportunity for a results-driven U.S. Federal and State Tax Manager to play a meaningful role on our global tax team. The U.S. Tax Manager will report to the U.S. Tax Director and work with internal partners and external advisors to manage the tax aspects of the tax reporting and compliance cycle to maximize tax efficiency and accuracy. Responsibilities

  • Review and prepare various aspects of the quarterly and annual tax provision, with an emphasis on state-by-state provision reporting, including calculating book-to-tax adjustments and return-to-provision adjustments

  • Manage the state income tax return process in collaboration with the India based compliance team, including reviewing/preparing supporting tax calculations and gathering relevant data

  • Lead the team in timely research, communication and resolution of state income tax audits and notices

  • Ensure timely completion of US state tax extensions, filings and estimated tax payments

  • Provide advice, direction and support to resolve technical tax/accounting issues, including providing advice and establishing UTP reserves when necessary

  • Responsible for monitoring legislative and regulatory tax law developments and analyze/interpret changes to federal and state tax laws and their impact to the tax return and/or financial statements

  • Prepare tax account reconciliations

  • Proactively identify and implement process improvements and automation that promote efficiency and accuracy

  • Assist in maintaining processes and procedures to meet internal control requirements

  • Communicate and develop relationships with business unit finance personnel as well as outside consultants and financial statement auditors

  • Lead and mentor tax team members(s), including providing guidance and support to ensure ongoing development

  • Be able to challenge the status quo and build processes and implement improvements

Minimum Qualifications

  • 10+ years of U.S. federal and state tax compliance experience in a global structure

  • BS/BA in accounting or finance

  • Certified Public Accountant

  • Experience in Public Big 4 Accounting Firm and Tech Industry

  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, S4Hana/SAP, Alteryx, OneSource Provision, OneSource Income Tax and Longview/Khalix software a plus

  • Effective verbal and written communication skills

  • Strong interpersonal and relationship building skills

  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision

  • Willingness to pivot and learn

Salary transparency

Salary is one part of Autodesk’s competitive compensation package. For U.S.-based roles, we expect a starting base salary between $101,600 and $164,340. Offers are based on the candidate’s experience and geographic location, and may exceed this range. In addition to base salaries, our compensation package may include annual cash bonuses, commissions for sales roles, stock grants, and a comprehensive benefits package.
