Gameloft Bucharest is seeking a skilled and proactive Technical Animator for an unannounced PC/console title developed in Unreal Engine 5. This role bridges the gap between art and engineering, focusing on building animation systems, creating tools for content creators, and ensuring seamless integration of animation assets into the engine. The ideal candidate combines strong technical expertise with solid animation skills, contributing to pipeline development and hands-on in-game animation work when needed.

Must Have

  • Build and maintain high-quality animation blueprints, state machines, and control rigs in Unreal Engine 5.
  • Work in Autodesk Maya to rig, skin, and simulate characters and assets for in-game use.
  • Collaborate with animators to prototype and implement new animation features and systems.
  • Create in-game animations (keyframe or mocap cleanup) to support gameplay, prototyping, or fill animation gaps.
  • Develop and maintain animation tools and scripts (e.g., Python, MEL) to improve animator workflows.
  • Support real-time animation systems including IK/FK setups, retargeting, and blendspace configuration.
  • Optimize animation assets for performance without sacrificing visual quality.
  • Partner with design and engineering to ensure animations are responsive, aligned with gameplay.
  • Debug animation-related issues across the engine and DCC pipeline.
  • Document tools, workflows, and best practices for internal teams.

Overview

Gameloft Bucharest is looking for a skilled and proactive Technical Animator to bridge the gap between art and engineering on an unannounced PC/console title developed in Unreal Engine 5. You’ll play a key role in bringing characters and worlds to life by building animation systems, creating tools for content creators, and ensuring seamless integration of animation assets into the engine.

This role is ideal for someone who combines strong technical expertise with solid animation skills, able to contribute both to pipeline development and hands-on in-game animation work when needed. You’ll work closely with animators, riggers, designers, and programmers to define workflows, solve technical challenges, and maintain animation quality across the project.

Your main challenges will include:

  • Build and maintain high-quality animation blueprints, state machines, and control rigs in Unreal Engine 5
