Onward Search is a specialized staffing and talent solutions company that helps professionals find top jobs with the nation’s leading brands. We’re hiring a Telecom / Network Engineer for an onsite role in Rochester, MN with our client, a leading healthcare organization.
In this role, you will design, configure, manage, and support enterprise-level telecom and network infrastructure. You’ll collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure secure, efficient, and high-performing network operations. This role involves both project leadership and hands-on technical execution in a dynamic and impactful environment.
Telecom / Network Engineer Responsibilities:
- Design, configure, and support telecom/network infrastructure across enterprise environments.
- Participate in technical direction, architecture design, and product selection decisions.
- Lead small-scale projects and coordinate work across internal and external teams.
- Troubleshoot complex network issues impacting performance, availability, and security.
- Deploy and maintain telecom and network technologies to support business initiatives.
- Manage and document network configurations, policies, and procedures.
- Assist in developing and implementing section strategy and budget planning.
- Support network implementations and troubleshooting efforts in high-impact environments.
Telecom / Network Engineer Qualifications:
- Strong knowledge of telecom/network concepts and the 7-layer OSI model.
- Hands-on experience with routing, switching, and wireless infrastructure.
- Familiarity with network management and monitoring tools.
- Understanding of desktop and server operating systems.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a customer-focused mindset.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to work independently and within a team environment.
- Experience with network access control and segmentation (TrustSec, ISE).
- Experience with VPN, DNS security devices, Internet caching, and secure web browsing.
- Experience with network security monitoring and management tools.
- Knowledge of software-defined networking (SDN), WAN/LAN, SASE, and cloud networking.
- Proficiency in scripting and automation tools such as Splunk, Ansible, Python, and .NET.
- Familiarity with Agile and Waterfall methodologies.
- Cisco certifications (CCNA preferred).
- Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline with 2+ years of experience, OR
- Associate’s degree with 4+ years of experience, OR
- 6+ years of relevant technical work experience without a degree.
