Job Description

Celestial AI is seeking a Test Engineer with expertise in Automated Test Equipment (ATE) and System-Level Testing (SLT). This role involves developing and optimizing test strategies for semiconductor and optical components, working closely with design, product, and validation teams. Key responsibilities include debugging test programs, analyzing data for yield improvement, developing test patterns, supporting various digital/analog test interfaces, and automating data collection. The engineer will also provide failure analysis support and drive continuous improvement in test coverage and efficiency, with a strong emphasis on optics-based testing if applicable.
Good To Have:
  • Experience in optics/photonics testing (lasers, modulators, optical transceivers, etc.).
  • Knowledge of optical instrumentation (power meters, spectrum analyzers, interferometers, etc.).
  • Familiarity with high-speed signal integrity and RF testing.
  • Experience in data visualization tools for test analysis.
  • Working knowledge of Confluence and JIRA.
Must Have:
  • Develop, debug, and optimize ATE and SLT test programs.
  • Define and implement test requirements with design, product, and validation teams.
  • Analyze test data to improve yield, performance, and reliability.
  • Develop and maintain test patterns and methodologies.
  • Support JTAG, boundary scan, and other digital/analog test interfaces.
  • Collaborate with hardware and firmware teams for test coverage and debug.
  • Automate data collection, analysis, and reporting.
  • Provide failure analysis and debug support.
  • Support NPI and drive continuous improvement.
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering with 5+ years of Industry experience.
  • Hands-on experience with ATE platforms.
  • Experience in SLT, functional testing, and system-level debug.
  • Proficiency in programming test scripts (Python, C/C++, or equivalent).
  • Strong knowledge of semiconductor testing methodologies, test coverage, and data analysis.
  • Familiarity with JTAG, boundary scan, and communication protocols.
  • Experience in failure analysis, yield improvement, and test optimization.
  • Excellent debugging and problem-solving skills.

ABOUT THE ROLE

We are seeking a Test Engineer with expertise in Automated Test Equipment (ATE) and System-Level Testing (SLT) to join our team. The ideal candidate will play a key role in developing and optimizing test strategies for semiconductor and optical components. Experience with optics-based testing is a strong plus.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop, debug, and optimize ATE and SLT test programs for production and validation.
  • Work closely with design, product, and validation teams to define and implement test requirements.
  • Analyze test data to improve yield, performance, and reliability.
  • Develop and maintain test patterns and test methodologies for different device types.
  • Support JTAG, boundary scan, and other digital/analog test interfaces.
  • Collaborate with hardware and firmware teams to ensure test coverage and debug failures.
  • Automate data collection, analysis, and reporting to enhance efficiency.
  • Provide failure analysis and debug support for both production and engineering samples.
  • Support new product introduction (NPI) and drive continuous improvement in test coverage and efficiency.
  • If applicable, develop and execute optics-based testing methodologies for integrated photonics or optical components.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering with 5+ years of Industry experience.
  • Hands-on experience with ATE platforms (e.g., Advantest, Teradyne, LTX, etc.).
  • Experience in SLT, functional testing, and debug at the system level.
  • Proficiency in programming test scripts (Python, C/C++, or equivalent).
  • Strong knowledge of semiconductor testing methodologies, test coverage, and data analysis.
  • Familiarity with JTAG, boundary scan, and communication protocols (I2C, SPI, PCIe, etc.).
  • Experience in failure analysis, yield improvement, and test optimization.
  • Excellent debugging and problem-solving skills.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience in optics/photonics testing (lasers, modulators, optical transceivers, etc.).
  • Knowledge of optical instrumentation (power meters, spectrum analyzers, interferometers, etc.).

For California Location:

As an early stage start up, we offer an extremely attractive total compensation package inclusive of competitive base salary, bonus and a generous grant of our valuable early-stage equity. The target base salary for this role is approximately $195,000.00 - $225,000.00. The base salary offered may be slightly higher or lower than the target base salary, based on the final scope as determined by the depth of the experience and skills demonstrated by candidate in the interviews.
