Job Summary

Aptiv is seeking a Validation and Test Engineer to lead validation engineering activities for Active Safety projects. This role involves managing the validation process from concept to production, developing test plans and procedures, creating test hardware and software, analyzing data, and generating reports. The ideal candidate will have programming experience in C/C++, LabView, and TestStand, strong knowledge of computers and MS Office, familiarity with Agile processes, automated test equipment, automotive communication protocols, and basic circuit design, along with a Bachelor's degree in Engineering.

Must Have

  • Lead Validation Engineering for Active Safety projects.
  • Manage Validation Process activities from concept to production.
  • Manage critical path timing for on-time test completion.
  • Responsible for requirements analysis and test plan generation.
  • Develop validation test procedures (success, extended life, test to failure, overstress).
  • Analyze test data and compare to requirements.
  • Develop test hardware and software for Active Safety products.
  • Create test summaries and reports.
  • Support new business activities.
  • Participate in product development teams and interface with customers.
  • Proven ability to identify and solve complex engineering problems.
  • Programming experience in C/C++ (NI LabWindows), NI LabView, and NI TestStand.
  • Strong working knowledge of computers, MS Office, and drawing packages (Visio, Multisim).
  • Familiarity with Agile process, requirements traceability management tools, software source control tools.
  • Familiarity with automated test equipment (DMM, ARB, power supply, oscilloscopes, generators, radar target simulators).
  • Familiarity with automotive communication protocols (CAN/CAN-FD, Automotive Ethernet, LVDS).
  • Experience with basic circuit design.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electronics, Electrical Engineering (EE), ECE, or EET.

YOUR ROLE

Lead Validation Engineering activities for Active Safety projects. This includes but is not limited to test plan development, customer interface, design team member, new hardware test technologies, writing/maintaining software applications and drivers, test hardware development, test software development, and process documentation.

In your daily job you will:

  • Manage the Validation Process activities during the product design cycle from product concept to production launch.
  • Manage critical path timing issues to ensure on time test completion.
  • Responsible for requirements analysis and test plan generation.
  • Develop validation test procedures using success based test methods, extended life test methods, test to failure test methods, and overstress test methods.
  • Analysis of test data and comparison to requirements.
  • Develop test hardware and software necessary to validate Active Safety products. This includes, but is not limited to, procuring capital assets, developing test methods and fixtures, writing test software, designing analog and digital load boards for product stimulus, designing cables, and applying engineering principles as required.
  • Analyze data. Create test summaries and reports.
  • Support new business activities.
  • Participate in product development team activities and interface with customers.

YOUR BACKGROUND

Key skills and competencies for succeeding in this role are:

  • Proven ability to identify and solve complex engineering problems.
  • Programming experience in C/C++ (NI LabWindows), NI LabView, and NI TestStand.
  • A strong working knowledge of computers, MS Office applications, and a drawing package such as Visio, Multisim, and etc. is required.
  • Familiarity with Agile process, requirements traceability management tools, software source control tools.
  • Familiarity with automated test equipment: i.e. DMM, ARB, power supply, oscilloscopes, generators, radar target simulators, and etc. NI PXI/PXIe experience preferred.
  • Familiarity with automotive communication protocols, such as CAN/CAN-FD, Automotive Ethernet, LVDS, and etc.
  • Experience with basic circuit design.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering with a concentration in Electronics, Electrical Engineering (EE), Electronics and Communications Engineering (ECE), or Electrical Engineering Technology (EET).
