The Role
As a VFX Artist you will be conceptualising and creating a wide range of visual effects for AAA games. You will be collaborating with designers, artists, programmers, and technical teams daily and working within the parameters of a games design and vision to produce excellent VFX.
An enthusiastic person looking to advance your visual effects career, you will be a good communicator, and take pride in seeing your concepts come to fruition.
Main Responsibilities:
Creation of high-quality in-game and cutscene specific VFX
Working with Level Designers/Directors to identify VFX requirements within your area of the game and collate notes to feed back into the VFX team.
Liaise with Technical Designers, Code and Animation with regards to placing and triggering gameplay specific VFX.
Attend regular reviews of your work, presenting all concept and ref if used.
Collaborate with multiple departments on VFX heavy levels to balance framerate, ensuring they are within guides/restrictions for all platforms required.
Undertake relevant on-the-job training to keep up to date with industry advancements and technologies.
Required:
Portfolio demonstrating VFX work in the games industry.
Proficiency of a 3D application, preferably Maya.
Good Photoshop skills for creating texture effects for use within particle systems.
Experience in using UE4 or UE5
Understanding of shaders and rendering pipelines as they relate to games VFX.
Understanding of VFX principals with a sense of timing and staging.
Flexible approach with the ability to adapt with change.
Ability to deliver quality work to scheduled deadlines.
Beneficial:
Experience with fluid simulation tools (e.g. FumeFX).
Experience with source control programmes such as Perforce & SVN.
Use of production tracking tools such as JIRA & Confluence.
