Job Description

Intel's GPU IP team is seeking a 3D and Ray Tracing Architect to develop cutting-edge graphics core for gaming and AI solutions. Responsibilities include driving end-to-end GPU architecture specifications, conducting competitive analysis, ensuring hardware and software interoperability, and optimizing GPU functionality, connectivity, performance, power, and area. The role involves evaluating feasibility trade-offs, exploring new architectures, and delivering optimized GPU solutions across various segments. You will also develop testing strategies, perform modeling, and analyze results to identify improvements. Collaboration with architects, design, verification, and research teams is crucial, as is debugging and resolving critical failures with pre- and post-silicon teams. The ideal candidate will possess strong C++ skills, experience with 3D graphics pipelines, and a Bachelor's degree in a STEM field with 9+ years of experience, or a Master's with 6+ years, or a PhD with 4+ years.

WHO WE ARE

The GPU IP team develops the cutting-edge graphics core for gaming and AI solutions for all Intel products.  Our team is a globally distributed team that develops the high-level architecture, including the architectural models, develops and verifies the RTL design, and validates performance with models and emulation prior to silicon bring-up.

WHO YOU ARE

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Develops and drives end-to-end GPU architecture specifications across graphics, compute, media, ray tracing and displays highly optimized, modular, and scalable GPUs.

  • Conducts competitive analysis, standards efforts, industry trend evaluations, and reviews customer requests to develop a hardware and software feature roadmap aligned with platform needs.

  • Ensures interoperability between hardware and software throughout the product lifecycle.

  • Drives GPU functionality, connectivity, configuration, performance, timing, power, and area optimization goals.

  • Evaluates feasibility trade-offs and explores new approaches and novel architectures for GPUs.

  • Delivers optimized GPU solutions across multiple segments, ranging from ultra-low power devices to client platforms, high-performance GPUs, supercomputers, and customized GPU offerings.

  • Develops testing strategies and preliminary test plans; performs behavioral and/or performance modeling of new features and configurations; and conducts result analysis using advanced statistics and predictive data modeling to benchmark and identify areas for improvement.

  • Provides experimental or proof-of-concept design changes to propose alternatives that meet performance, power, area, and timing constraints.

  • Reviews, challenges, and influences cross-functional roadmaps and defines technology targets for future GPU development.

  • Collaborate with architects, design engineers, verification engineers, and research teams to enhance overall GPU design and address bottlenecks and constraints.

  • Works closely with pre-silicon and post-silicon teams to debug, identify root causes, and develop workarounds and solutions for critical failures.

  • Develops architectural models and drives architectural studies

Qualifications:

You must possess the below minimum qualifications to be initially considered for this position. Preferred qualifications are in addition to the minimum requirements and are considered a plus factor in identifying top candidates.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science or any STEM related degree plus 9+ years of related work experience, or

Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science or any STEM related degree plus 6+ years of related work experience

PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science or any STEM related degree plus 4+ years of related work experience.

Related work experience should include the following:

  • Experience with C++ coding and debugging skills

  • Experience with developing performance models or hardware design of the 3D graphics pipeline

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Understanding of advances 3D algorithms, including ray tracing

  • Working knowledge of at least one 3D API (DirectX 11, 12, OpenGL, Vulkan

  • Developing performance experiments, collecting and analyzing data, provide informed recommendations based on the results

Annual Salary Range for jobs which could be performed in the US:

$186,070.00-$262,680.00

Salary range dependent on a number of factors including location and experience.
