Job Description

Outfit7 is seeking a passionate Data Scientist for its Ad Analytics department. This role involves optimizing game monetization through data, from event tracking to actionable insights, contributing to the commercial success and player experience of Outfit7 games. The Data Scientist will collaborate with cross-functional teams, handle complex analytical tasks, build scalable data solutions, and assess ad monetization impacts, while also exploring advanced analytics and machine learning for revenue optimization.
Must Have:
  • Define data tracking needs, build, test, and maintain data pipelines.
  • Explore and evaluate ad monetization performance and improvements via A/B tests.
  • Conduct exploratory and ad-hoc analyses on large datasets.
  • Automate data analysis by developing reusable scripts and pipelines.
  • Develop and maintain KPI-tracking dashboards and automated reports.
  • Summarize and interpret data, presenting actionable insights to stakeholders.
  • Find areas for improving ad-based monetization and optimize revenues.
  • Partner with various teams to drive monetization success.
  • Proficiency in SQL (BigQuery), R, or Python.
  • Ability to interpret complex datasets and provide actionable insights.
  • Experience with statistical modeling, A/B testing, causal inference, and predictive analytics.
  • Ability to explain complex analyses to technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Strong collaboration skills.
  • Experience with BI tools like Shiny, Looker, Lightdash, Tableau.
  • 3+ years in data analytics or data science, preferably in mobile gaming/ad tech.
  • Proven track record of independently driving projects.
  • Hands-on experience building ETL pipelines and working with large-scale datasets (DBT, Airflow, Spark).

We're looking for a passionate and skilled Data Scientist to join our team. You will become an important part of our Ad Analytics department, helping us understand and optimize the monetization performance of Outfit7 games through data. From raw event tracking to dashboards and actionable insights, your work will contribute to the commercial success of Outfit7 games and help shape the player experience for hundreds of millions of users.

You’ll collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including product managers, software and data engineers, and game production teams, taking responsibility for complex analytical tasks, building scalable data solutions, and assessing the impact of different ad monetization approaches. You’ll also bring fresh perspectives and help develop new ways to improve ad monetization through advanced analytics and machine learning.

Key Responsibilities

  • Define data tracking needs, build, test and maintain data pipelines to ensure data quality, and aggregate data for efficient, accurate analysis and reporting.
  • Explore and evaluate ad monetization performance (ad products) and ad mediation improvements by proposing, designing, running, and analyzing A/B tests.
  • Conduct exploratory and ad-hoc analyses on large datasets from multiple sources to uncover monetization opportunities and inform ad product decisions.
  • Automate data analysis by developing reusable analysis scripts and pipelines,supporting faster data-driven decision-making across.
  • Develop and maintain KPI-tracking dashboards and automated reports for analytics, ad operations, product, and leadership teams, and drive operational improvements in analytical processes and methodology.
  • Summarize and interpret data clearly, extracting and presenting actionable insights, and proposing next steps to stakeholders ranging from development teams to company leadership.
  • Find areas for improving ad based monetization and explore ways to optimize revenues (e.g., applying ML or optimization techniques to enhance waterfall ad mediation, header bidding, direct advertising deals, or hybrid mediation strategies.)
  • Partner with teams across ad platform development, ad operations, data engineering, product, and game development in driving monetization success by providing an analytical perspective, and help set priorities within these teams based on business impact.

Required Skills

  • Strong Proficiency in Data Languages such as SQL (BigQuery) and R or Python.
  • Ability to interpret complex datasets, identify trends, and provide actionable insights.
  • Experience with statistical modeling, A/B testing, causal inference, and predictive analytics.
  • Ability to clearly explain complex analyses to both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Strong collaboration skills for working with cross-functional teams.
  • Experience with tools like Shiny, Looker, Lightdash, Tableau, or similar BI tools.

Required Experience

  • 3+ years in a data analytics or data science role, preferably in mobile gaming, ad tech, or a related field.
  • Proven track record of independently driving projects from idea to delivery.
  • Hands-on experience building ETL pipelines and working with large-scale datasets using tools like DBT, Airflow, or Spark.
