Job Description

The Associate Competition Counsel will join a global team providing subject matter expertise on competition law. Responsibilities include interpreting laws and compliance obligations for various teams (Compliance, Business, Product, Engineering), advising on compliance programs and policies to mitigate risk, and managing discussions/negotiations with government regulators on compliance efforts. This role demands strong legal analysis skills and collaboration with internal stakeholders to ensure compliance with competition laws and regulations, particularly within the context of a technology company.
Must have:
  • JD, LL.B., or equivalent
  • 10+ years of legal/compliance experience
  • Experience with competition authorities
  • Ability to interpret laws and advise on compliance
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills
Good to have:
  • Experience with technology companies
  • Experience developing compliance programs
  • Understanding of complex technical issues

Minimum qualifications:

  • JD, LL.B., equivalent degree, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 10 years of experience with legal, regulatory or corporate compliance, including addressing, minimizing, and avoiding regulatory risk.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience developing, evaluating, and maintaining programs that ensure products comply with laws, regulations, and external commitments.
  • Experience working with technology companies and ability to understand complex technical issues.
  • Experience engaging with regulators, including European Commission, UK CMA and other competition authorities.

As a Regulatory Counsel, Competition you’ll join a Global team that provides subject matter expertise and engages with regulators, academics, and others to consider the role of competition law in our changing economy, the development of new technology, and passage of new laws and regulations. The role involves interpreting laws, partnering with internal stakeholders across the company to mitigate risk, and helping communicate our compliance externally.

Responsibilities

  • Interpret laws and other compliance obligations into requirements for Compliance, Business, Product, and Engineering teams.
  • Provide legal advice on compliance programs and policies to help mitigate risk.
  • Manage government and regulator discussions, negotiations, and disclosures on compliance readiness efforts.
