Job Description Summary:

What you need to know about the role:
You will be responsible for the health and growth of the Small & Medium Business segment in PayPal’s Hong Kong, Korea & Taiwan (HKT) regional business cluster.

Ownership of the commercial objectives of the SMB business resides in this role, and hence the need to be a focal point for multi-disciplinary execution and coordination through an analytically driven approach which blends regional and global initiatives and insights into local actions and market positioning.

The PayPal Hong Kong, Korea & Taiwan (“HKT”) team is dedicated to bringing PayPal’s value proposition to merchants and consumers in these geographies.
The role of the SMB team is to provide innovative payment solutions to unmanaged merchants in the HKT business.

Job Description:

Your way to impact:

  • Based in Hong Kong, this role will report to the Market Leader for PayPal’s Hong Kong, Korea and Taiwan business who holds market commercial accountabilities and dotted line into Head of SMB for APAC (Regional function)

  • Working with regional SMB stakeholders, a key success enabler for this role is to drive and influence the key project and initiatives actions that will have an outsized impact on the SMB portfolio business

  • For SMB business, the incumbent will be a key face / voice in the market representing PayPal to our partners, prospects, merchants etc. Internally you will work with a diverse group of partners and teams across marketing, product, sales, servicing, finance, and more to achieve success

In your day-to-day you will:

  • Define the SMB commercial plan to achieve KPIs across acquisition, engagement and retention as well as achieve an overall Revenue and Transaction Margin (TM) target for the region

  • Responsible for understanding the HKT SMB business end to end across multiple domains (e.g. Product, Marketing, Sales, Service etc..) using data, competitor and qualitative insights

  • Develop and execute against a set of commercial priorities that come in two flavors. Global or Regional initiatives (e.g. Re-pricing, product GTM etc.) and locally lead initiatives (e.g. Policy change, retention programs). Your role will work in partnership with key stakeholders to execute on these initiatives.

  • Accountable to TM targets across these initiatives and represent the segment in market operating reviews and broader global forums

  • You will be obsessed with the customer providing market backed insights to the region to drive improvements and deep understanding of the competition to help shape how our product & services should be customized and taken to market

  • Position PayPal in the HKT market, and be the voice of PayPal externally with partners and events. Be in close sync with our partners (across all types whether channel, eco-system, payment partners). Leading the PayPal “Brand” in the SMB communities that are relevant to HKT.

What do you need to bring:

  • Experience at the forefront of the B2B sector with a passion for serving SMBs

  • Experience in leading and influencing large cross-functional teams to a clear outcome

  • Experience in business case development, market and opportunity sizing and preparing strategic recommendations for senior executives

  • Demonstrated ability to simplify complex topics while not losing sight of details

  • Combination of strategic thinking with hands on execution

  • Strong quantitative analytical skills, able to manage through data and insights to build compelling and innovative strategies

  • Very strong customer focus, naturally including customer perspective in plans, decisions and actions

  • Experience leading complex strategic and operational initiatives, working through technical, operational, legal/policy and business issues

  • Experience and knowledge of  working in sales, partnerships or commercial functions

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, with a natural talent for crafting and presenting compelling recommendations at C-level

  • Experience in the fin-tech or payments space a plus
