The Ethics & Compliance Lead LATAM role will be responsible for ensuring that the company's operations in LATAM adheres to all relevant compliance laws, regulations, internal policies and meets regulatory expectations. This role acts as a strategic advisor (especially to the region’s BU GMs and country management), to proactively create and maintain a culture ethics and compliance throughout the region. This role is critical in partnering with legal to maintain the company's reputation, mitigate compliance risks, and empower the business across the region to achieve its strategic objectives, while adhering to law/regulation and ethical business practices. The role will also participate in the clusters´ strategic forums, such as local risk management forum and investigation committees.
Key Responsibilities:
- Compliance strategy - Develop and implement a comprehensive compliance strategy for the region, which aligns with the global compliance strategy and reflects local law specificities (obtaining input from local lawyers, as necessary)
- Policy implementation - Oversee the implementation of compliance policies (CoC, ABAC, competition law, privacy and sanctions) and procedures in the region, working with local legal to ensure they are in line with global standards and local law specificities
- Risk assessment - Conduct regular risk assessments (in line with the ERM framework) to identify potential, emerging compliance risks and work with leadership, to develop associated mitigation strategies/plans
- Training and awareness - Work with local lawyers to develop and deliver supplementary training (over and above the global mandatory training program) in local language, to higher risk employees of the region.
- Monitoring and assurance - Work with the global team to manage a robust risk-based compliance monitoring system across the region, to identify and prevent compliance violations. Conduct regular compliance monitoring and assurance activities to proactively identify emerging issues and ensure adherence to compliance policies and procedures
- Investigations - Support CSI team handling relevant compliance investigations in the region, and report findings to global investigation and local disciplinary committees
Why you?
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in law, Business Administration, Finance, or a related field.
- Legal background is preferred.
- Certification in Compliance or Ethics is preferred
- Required languages for this position:
- Spanish & English: Fluency required
- Portuguese: preferred
Must-Have Qualifications:
- 10+ years proven experience in compliance, legal, or internal control roles within a global healthcare or consumer goods organization, in the region
- Expert level understanding of regional healthcare industry regulations and international compliance standards
- Experience leading team of Compliance specialists in complex, multi-regulatory, environment
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to influence individuals at all levels of the organisation to work in accordance with company values
- Strong leadership and business partnering skills
- Acts with the highest degree of personal integrity, able to maintain confidentiality and trust in sensitive compliance matters
