Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced and hands-on Global Tax Lead to own the company’s worldwide tax strategy and compliance, with primary responsibility for U.S. federal and state tax obligations. This role will lead all aspects of direct and indirect tax management, ensuring compliance with U.S. and international tax laws while optimizing tax efficiency across multiple jurisdictions.
You will collaborate closely with finance, legal, and external advisors (Big 4 and local firms) to oversee U.S. corporate income tax, sales & use tax, transfer pricing, international tax structuring, and global tax audits, while building scalable processes to support our rapidly growing global footprint.
Key Responsibilities
1. U.S. Tax Compliance & Planning (Primary Focus)
- Lead the preparation and review of U.S. federal and state income tax returns, estimated tax payments, and extensions.
- Oversee sales and use tax, franchise tax, gross receipts tax, property tax, and other state-level filings across multiple U.S. states.
- Ensure compliance with ASC 740 for tax provisions, deferred taxes, and uncertain tax positions, including quarterly and annual reporting.
- Monitor legislative changes (e.g., BEPS 2.0, Pillar Two, U.S. corporate tax reforms) and evaluate their impact on the company.
- Manage tax audits and inquiries from the IRS and state/local tax authorities.
2. International Tax & Global Structuring
- Design and maintain global tax-efficient structures, including intercompany transfer pricing policies, IP ownership, and cash repatriation strategies.
- Ensure compliance with OECD transfer pricing guidelines and prepare/support transfer pricing documentation (Master File, Local File).
- Oversee tax compliance for entities in India, Argentina, Europe, and other jurisdictions, coordinating with local advisors for VAT/GST, withholding taxes, and statutory filings.
- Support expansion into new countries, ensuring tax-efficient and compliant entry strategies.
3. Process, Controls & Strategy
- Build and document tax processes, controls, and calendars to ensure accuracy and timeliness of all filings.
- Drive automation and integration of tax workflows with ERP (e.g., NetSuite) and other financial systems.
- Serve as the primary contact for external auditors (Big 4) on all tax matters, including annual audits and tax provisions.
4. Business Partnering & Advisory
- Advise on the tax implications of business initiatives, such as pricing models, new product offerings, intercompany service agreements, and M&A.
- Collaborate with treasury and legal teams on repatriation strategies, entity rationalization, and intercompany financing.
- Educate and align leadership on tax risks, opportunities, and strategic planning.
Qualifications
- Experience: 5+ years of progressive tax experience, with at least 3 years in U.S. corporate/international tax (Big 4 and/or in-house in a SaaS or technology company strongly preferred).
- Strong expertise in U.S. corporate income tax, ASC 740, and state & local tax compliance.
- Solid understanding of transfer pricing, OECD guidelines, and international tax structuring.
- Proven experience managing tax audits and building scalable tax processes in a global environment.
- Excellent stakeholder management skills.
