Job Description

This role involves operating and maintaining heating, ventilating, air conditioning, and dust collecting equipment. Responsibilities include adjusting equipment for environmental control, performing routine and emergency maintenance, lubricating and repairing components like fans, motors, pumps, and refrigeration compressors. The technician will also detect malfunctions, record test data, use various hand tools and specialized test equipment, interpret technical drawings, and safely handle hazardous materials. The position requires a conscientious and dependable individual capable of working with minimal supervision.
Good To Have:
  • Certification under the Section 608 or Section 609 EPA technician certification program.
  • Specialized training and/or experience in this field.
Must Have:
  • Operate and maintain heating, ventilating, air conditioning, and dust collecting equipment.
  • Perform routine and emergency maintenance work.
  • Detect equipment malfunctions by noise, vibration, or temperature.
  • Take and record test data (e.g., air movement, temperature, humidity).
  • Use mechanic’s hand tools, small power tools, and HVAC test equipment (e.g., Freon leak detectors, thermometers).
  • Work from schematic drawings, wiring diagrams, and instructions.
  • Handle liquid and solid hazardous materials and wastes safely, including spill cleanup.
  • Completed a formal apprenticeship or equivalent training of eight (8) years to qualify as a Journeyperson.
  • Must be a US Citizen.

Refrigeration and Heating Maintenance Technician

Working Pattern: Onsite 9/80

Operates and maintains heating, ventilating, air conditioning and dust collecting equipment.

What you will be doing

  • Operates and adjusts equipment to control humidity, temperature, drafts, air cleanliness, etc. Makes routine and special checks on all equipment and controls.
  • Lubricates, dismantles, inspects, cleans, replaces worn or damaged parts, reassembles and test fans, motors, pumps, refrigeration compressors, electrostatic and automatic air filters and all other equipment that makes up the air conditioning system.
  • Performs routine and emergency maintenance work as required.
  • Operate any mechanical or control equipment manually.
  • Detect malfunction of equipment by noise, vibration, temperature or other external means.
  • Takes and records test data, such air movement, wet and dry bulb temperature readings, relative humidity, fan and motor RPM etc.
  • Uses a variety of mechanic’s hand tools, small power tools, Freon leak detectors, etc. and measuring and test equipment, such as thermometers, anemometers, K.W.H. meters, tachometers, dial and feeler gages, etc.
  • Works from schematic drawings, wiring diagrams, verbal and written instructions.
  • Able to lift :
  • Specialized training and/or experience in this field is desirable.
  • This work requires a conscientious, dependable employee who can work with little or no supervision when necessary.
  • Work both inside and outside of buildings in all kinds of weather.
  • Requires a considerable amount of walking and ladder climbing.
  • Frequently works near rapidly moving machinery.
  • Employee may be required to handle both liquid and solid type hazardous materials and wastes.
  • Knowledgeable about proper and safe methods to handle these materials.
  • Assist in the clean up of spills of these materials.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Must have completed a formal apprenticeship or equivalent training of eight (8) years to qualify as a Journeyperson.
