About The Role
Job Location: Bangalore, Karnataka, India
As a Technical Artist, you will play a vital role in bridging the gap between animators and the animation programmer, ensuring that all animation assets are seamlessly integrated and optimized within the Unreal Engine. You will work closely with the animation, design, and engineering teams to develop and implement efficient animation workflows.
What Will You Do
- Collaborate with the Animation, Art, and Engineering teams to develop, refine, and maintain animation pipelines within Unreal Engine.
- Support the Animation team by troubleshooting technical challenges, ensuring smooth integration of animation assets into the engine.
- Develop and maintain custom tools, scripts, and automation processes to enhance animation workflows, focusing on efficiency and quality.
- Optimize animation rigs, skeletons, and blend systems to ensure optimal performance without sacrificing visual fidelity.
- Ensure animation assets are optimized for performance, identifying and resolving any bottlenecks in the pipeline.
- Provide ongoing technical support to animators throughout the production cycle, facilitating effective communication between the Animation and Engineering teams.
What Are We Looking For
- 4+ years of professional experience in game development, with a focus on animation and technical artistry.
- Strong understanding of animation pipelines, rigging systems, and real-time integration within Unreal Engine.
- Extensive knowledge of Unreal Engine’s animation systems, including Control Rig, Animation Blueprints, and Sequencer.
- Expertise in performance optimization for animation-heavy content, including troubleshooting and profiling animation bottlenecks.
- Proficiency in scripting languages such as Python or MEL for developing custom tools and automation solutions.
- Solid understanding of rigging principles, skinning, and blend shapes, with a focus on creating animator-friendly rigs.
Pluses
- Experience working on mobile platforms, optimizing animation assets for diverse hardware requirements.
- Experience with node-based material graphs.
